Fcps Spanish Immersion Unfair System

I signed my kid up for the Spanish immersion lottery for kindergarten and he didn’t get in. With all the benefits of learning a language at a young age, I wanted that for him but he won’t have it now. They either start in kindergarten on the immersion track or they’re out.
I think it sucks that some kids get that benefit while others don’t. We should all have that option if anyone does. I also think it’s unfair that they basically favor Spanish kids for about half the slots. If anything they should not be eligible because they’re already learning two languages, but at least make them participate in the lottery with the same chances as everyone else.

There are benefits to the program an it would be great if everyone could enroll. My kids were in it for 2 years then shipped off to AAP level 4 at a different school without Spanish. Now they are in HS taking German and German+Spanish. So you will get back to it eventually.
The trade off is that in immersion the classes are 99% in the language. My daughter didnt know English terms in Math in the 3rd grade when she switched. She didnt seem to suffer any but there is a lot of information lost in immersion.

There is a lot of information lost in immersion, you see that's the reason not to endure a third world, backwater language. As for kids, I'd recommend a useful language with a storied history, such as latin or French. These are far more in line with this great country, and as for bathroom habits, its each one's choice, but I believe this "parent" doesn't wash their hands after using the bathroom.

There are a number of attorneys in this area who would be happy to take your money to pursue this case. You could also run for school board and make this the centerpiece of your campaign. Sitting at your computer bitching isn't going to bring about change.

There are a number of attorneys in this area who would be happy to take your money to pursue this case. You could also run for school board and make this the centerpiece of your campaign. Sitting at your computer bitching isn't going to bring about change.
