First, the guy on the radio sounds like he isn't past puberty but says he's developing wireless charging (which we all know is technology already posted on public sites and china is producing it illegally ignoring patent rights of - years ago even).
Apple announced the first successful use of wireless cell phone charging (while others tried it: none in a financially possible and actually usable finished manner)
WTOP admits 1/2 of this Democrat kid's funding is: GOVERNMENT GRANT MONEY. that's right! your paying some senator's relative to develope technology that's already developed and PATENTED.
finally note that wireless energy transfer is an old old topic and is even discussed in old radio shack learning books
(the fact is that there are many ways to do it but all ways, to be effective, the parts need to be manufactured exactly for the task (and for shipping weight - modernly). an example is a hand made "capacitor": well known to almost wholey not work despite careful care take - it really needs to be factory made)

Haven't seen this story, nor do I care enough to look it up, but OP continues to show its ignorance. "Developing" and "inventing" are not the same thing. The automobile was "invented" over a century ago, and continues to be "developed" today. By the same token, a technology such as wireless charging that was invented long ago can be developed further today. Hint: wireless charging isn't the norm yet; ergo, it needs further development.
