Holy spirit church - school @braddock rd & burke lake rd

Anyone out there that went to Holy spirit school in the late 60's or early 70's?
The nuns hit me, some of the priests were a little too friendly. I still wake up in the dark sometimes and remember that awful place. It was a mixture of Cathiloic kids and local screwups that were rejected by FCPS.

Now all the screw ups and rejects go to the Potomac school.

You're a little late... the church has figured out how to defend itself against bogus accusations.

Right, Give it up, because all those "accusations" were "bogus." Except for all the thousands that weren't. I can't believe anyone is defending Catholic schools at this point. Moron.

Those are the exact words Father D said to me in 1974 in the rectory after 12:15 mass one sunday. Hope he is burning in hell now.

What do Catholic schools have to do with the accusations? Most Catholic schools are run by laity anyway and priests themselves have only an oversight role in terms of overall parish budgeting.

There is nothing wrong with Holy Spirit school. It is a great school and I know many students who went there who are now in adult life, and three are public names you may recognize as extremely intelligent and successful people.

The original poster is a troll who never went to the school. First of all, the writing would have been more articulate. Second, the writer would have had better things to do, like a life and career, than to make shit up about their elementary school. The poster alleges him/herself to be in their fifties but the comments come off as someone who was rejected from a custodial job there or something.

it's a good thing you posted this on the internet! Shakespeare once wrote, "the internet is known for it's credibility... and shit." i found that quote on the internet. :)

pgnes, sounds like you might be a victim as well. Im sure HS is a good school now a days but things were different back in the day. Sister Maris was one of the good ones she tried to console us, she knew what was going on was wrong but was too afraid of the big boys in arlington. our principle was Mrs Marruem she was a good woman that never knew what was going on. I did not write the OP to piss anyone off, just to try and connect with other Holy Spirit victims that are out there.

!!!! KURTIS IS A TROLL. !!!!

Recognizing that my response just perpetuates your trolliness... there are plenty of support groups and lawyers who would love to console you if you were speaking the truth. Here we only help the families of those who die in violent car accidents, get shot by cops, or have a bad experience with window tinting.

However, I'll make an exception in this case... The longer you continue to use the name Kurtis the longer you will keep getting beat up. Grow up and call yourself Kurt.

I was referring to "back in the day." Like another poster said, either put up or shut up. Anyone can make up stories, either present evidence or remain a troll.

If trolls are such a problem, then why don't all of the non-trolls create a PRIVATE web forum, where you guys can all share your infinite wisdom and knowledge with each other?

Sure there have been numerous students that have gone there, become successful etc., but that doesn't make any of these accusations false.

I went to Holy Spirit in the late 80's, and while I was there there was a teacher who used to physically abuse several of her students- Mrs. Hebenstreit (sp?). She was fired in the middle of the school year for this. That was a while ago, so it might be the greatest school in the world now (lol), but based on what I saw first hand while I was there it gets a huge thumbs down from me! I am laughing at the people that are defending that place...

Yes, a forum where membership gets you access to this "private" forum.
Also a "membetship fee" can be collected as membership dues and being up to date on membership dues gets you the privelage to post Pics of all the Crossdressers, Scat, and Male Anal-Fisting your hearts desire.

Maybe I was wrong and I see that now. Instead of saying your allegations were false, unsubstantiated, totally without merit, and pathetic I should have said they obviously didn't hit you enough.

The word is "altar" not "alter."

If you were harmed by an adult you should talk to the cops.

Not all are crooked, but plenty are.

I thought someone might pick up on that.
You sometimes get "altered" when you attend HS altar boy spring break camp at massanetta springs.

KURTIS, There is help available. My younger brother was touched but never fully raped by a brother from the seminary who worked @ manasseta springs summer camp. Of course the diocese tried to cover it up and that brother was assigned to a mission in S.Africa. Take a look at SNAP.org people there can help you.

Wow! A website for touched kids! I went to holt spirit K thru 6 and left there in 1976. Yeah I got cracked on the head a few times with a yardstick but I NEVER saw any evidence of kid touching. I was not an altar boy but a couple of my buds were. They would make some serious tips working weddings and funerals and as far as I ever heard none of that kind of stuff went on. Old father Zonneveld is the pastor at Precious blood in Culpeper now, he was the best priest at Holy Spirit IMHO.

Wrong, she did not teach 4th.

Why don't you just make your allegation? What priests are you talking about? All three pastors from mid-1970's to early 1990's are deceased, as undoubtedly most of the priests there in the 1970's. If you are accusing Fr. DeWolf (now deceased), then state your case and look for victims before and after his time at Holy Spirit at the places he stayed.

But getting Mrs. Walsh's grade wrong didn't help your credibility. Nice guess, but wrong.

former hs student, Thanks for responding to this thread. I was raised catholic and I understand why we all go into full denial mode when the kid touching thing comes up. I would not want to beleive it if I were in your shoes.
The fact of the matter is that this stuff still goes on today

Sadly , some boys were victimized. The Arlington diocese setteled a few claims many years ago. It's my understanding that nothing goes on like that there now.

I remember Father Dewolf as well. I was taking off my robe after mass one day to head back to class. We had to go to mass once a week during school and I was an altar boy for our class masses. I turned around and Dewolf was standing there by the entrance to the back that the altar boys used. He had his thing out and just then a lady walked in the other entrance with flowers, she stomped her foot and turned and left. I looked back over to where Dewolf was and he was gone too. I guess I never thought much of it till years later. I never heard of anyone else or had any other issues other than that.

I remember Mrs. Brobson in first grade giving me a little whack now and then but I was always acting and my mom supported it.

The Catholic Church has no shame.

They knew little boys were being molested and did NOTHING but move the priests around to other Church's.

I am no longer Catholic and for a damn good reason.

83 out of 100,000 are a convicted sex offender in the general population of Pa. 21 out of 800 priests (in the Philly Archdiocese) have been recently indicted.

SO.. to work on the same 100,000 scale we determine that 800 goes into 100,000 125 times.

800 x 125 = 100,000
21 x 125 = 2625

So in the general population of PA, 83 out of 100K are convicted offenders; 2625 out of 100,000 for priests.

Where is my math off?

Start here: 21 out of 800 were not indicted. I'm not going to do your homework for you.

Brian, Father cauwe wasnt a kid toucher too was he? I remember when the church owned those two homes out back (before the current rectory was built) and we watched from the window as father Cauwe's body was being removed from the house by the rescue squad. His hand fell down and swung below the stretcher for a moment and all us girls screamed. That must have been in the early or mid 70's.

Have a strong personal interest in any info about priests at HS during the late '60s early '70s. My family joined HS when it was founded at Woodson High School in 1964. Things turned tragic for my family in 1971. Please contact me if you know anything about the priests who were at HS during that time. Thank you.

Kidd: Easy for you to say let it go but I would like to know why my brother, an altar boy for Cauwe and DeWolf, shot himself at 16.
