Betting time: a smoker who fell asleep? Wait, that's 100% it. Don't bother offering alternatives. Anyway, the only good smoker is a dead one, since they are all stupid, selfish litterbugs. Buh bye!

WASHINGTON — Two adults are dead and two others hospitalized after an early morning fire in a Fairfax County, Virginia, house.

Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire at 11401 Popes Head Road when they responded around 1:30 a.m.

“When they arrived on the scene, they had fire showing from all four sides of this single-family, one-story home,” said Fairfax County Battalion Chief Willie Bailey.

One person died at the hospital.

Another was found dead inside the home after firefighters put out the blaze.

A third remains in critical condition.

A fourth adult is hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

"Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire". Whoever wrote this doesn't know much about FCFRD. They haven't aggressively attacked a fire since the 80's.

My first guess with just what i see in the pic- a hoarding situation (lots of newspapers and such around) and someone dropped a cigarette or left a candle going and it went up from there.

Or it could have been insurance fraud- for the house or the 2 people involved's life insurance.

It could go either way, a simple accident or an elaborate plot (pun intended with the real estate).

RIP to the victims and i hope the other 2 get well soon.

Personally I'd rather be shot/electrocuted/hit by a volcano and die quickly and not suffer burning to death (or drowning).

How many townhouses can be built on that lot?

Most people die from smoke inhalation before their bodies burn.

Awful that they died even if it was a careless mistake, which they haven't yet determined. Ironically an enormous amount of firewood is piled on the yard.

It is clear that the residents feared freezing to death more than anything. That's why they had many cords of firewood stacked up. Thank goodness their fears didn't come to pass!

At least there was no mention of a gun in the house, or someone could've been hurt.

Seems suspicious... eerily close to two locations where bodies were recently found. Michael Cooker and the body found last night.

Wouldn't be surprised if that place was a drug house.

Was this house previously busted as a meth house? God bless all of the family members.

The guy who lived there was a helluva worker. Years ago a tree fell on Poped Head Road. He cut it up and sold it for firewood. He just kept adding to it and eventually his house was surrounded by seasoned firewood. You have to wonder what is going to become of all that wood.

Tragic. This area has a lot of meth use.
