WTF? Virginia now puts inspection stickers on the side of the windshield

I've been driving for almost 20 years and I am not used to this. Why the great idea after so long? Does this really benefit anyone or are they just doing this because they can and we'll say yes?

The car manufacturers think they may interfere with the crash avoidance cameras. Thats BS but some state employee had to justify his / her / its exhistance.

Becuase having the inspection sticker in the center of the windshield apparently interferes with new "crash avoidance technology" found in certain newer vehicles. Personally, Virginia is one of the few states left that have annual motor vehicle safety inspections. And most other states that do require inspections have better rules, like if you buy a brand new vehicle, it only needs to be inpected after the first 5 years or some states require that all vehicles needs to ony be inpected every other year. Obviously, annual state inspections are a huge cash cow for the state of Virginia, which is why they are not getting rid of them.

For most people, the cost of an annual inspection is trivial. Cheap way to help keep downscale dipshits from driving around in death-traps that put the lives, health, and well-being of the rest of us at risk.

If they are such "death-traps" won't do states without inspections have higher vehicle accident death rates?

One of the few? Only 13 states have no inspection requirement. Irelevent states like Montana, North and South Dakota. Minnesota (high percentage of Nordic peoples, enough said) Michigan (auto industry blocks any attempt to make autos more expensive) Florida (high percentage of retards).

You niggers are funny.
If a guy has a shitty car and wants to put others at peril, he has no conscience.
Typical niggers.
I was at pick a part in Fredericksburg, and 3 niggers were going around taking non expired inspection stickers off the wrecked cars.
So, you see, criminals always find a way w inspections.
It’s a cash cow-fines, court costs, tickets.
How do you think ffx co has those nice Taurus squad cars?

No need for the ugly stickers these days. Just like the county decals that they finally dumped. The only thing that the sticker does now is make it slightly easier to pick out for revenue generation tickets.

Retard...many states have emissions inspections or a one-time safety inspection but most don’t have regular periodic saftey. Some states that do have it are hotbeds of extreme inbreeding like Mississippi, Louisiana and West Virginia. I rest my case.

I applaud those efforts. Whatever it takes to get your jalopy into the shop once a year to make sure the tires are good, the brakes actually work, and you've got functioning bulbs in all your lights. I don't need the added risk of your immature carelessness. We know that we can't count on many of you to be responsible enough to take care of such things on your own, so Johnny Law will have to take care of it for us. If you don't like it, too bad.

Stop clapping like a trained seal and read stupid. There's no need for a big ugly safety inspection STICKER when it can be tied to the plate and VIN in the same way that the old county decals, emissions inspection, registration, and everything else is now.

They don't even bother with VISUAL means much anymore with plate readers and in-car and hand-helds. Expired inspections are mostly all add-ons to other stops and parking tickets. No need for the big ugly stickers now.

Yeah...it's always a joy driving in a state without annual vehicle safety inspections. Spectacular fun getting into an accident with a motorist operating a vehicle without doors, wooden bumpers, non-OEM lights, bald tires and no windshield wipers.

I now live in a state with no annual safety or environmental inspection. Not only is the accident rate no different than the shithole state of Virginia I fled from more than a decade ago, but the air is much cleaner and smells better( less traffic and even fewer nogs, Mexicans or Muslims). The problem with state inspections was it gave dickhead inspectors with a god complex Carter Blanche to crawl around inside your car searching for that one thing that would result in a REJECTION. Fixing real or imagined defects would be one thing, but people with busy lives taking a couple days off each year to waste time getting your nearly new vehicle inspected is just shit. Fuck both Virginia and state vehicle inspectors.

The tears of your failure to be succesful in NOVA make me happy.
Here's the thing...Have you ever seen a VA State Vehicle Inspection Manual? Most shops take 10 minutes to complete a safety inspection but, no inspector can possibly inspect everything specified in the manual in that time.
You own your car. You have the advantage. The internet is chock full of enthusiast forums where you can learn what things are usually looked at during an inspection based on what year, make and model you own.

It's long because of specific details and and conditions and variances not because the list is long for a given vehicle. The list itself is pretty simple and doesn't take very long to check. Can you slip by with replacement light housings that don't have the DOT-approved stamp? Yeah, probably as long as they look stock and aren't something obvious without proper reflectors or whatever. You're not getting by with an exhaust leak, or glass cracked larger than the limit, or too thin brakes, or worn tires, or dead bulbs, horn that doesn't work, or any of the other standard fails.
The guy I go to will cut me some slack on marginal stuff because I know him pretty well and he knows that I'll take care of it. If you're in line behind me with the same thing then your ass is getting failed for sure. lol He won't let me slide with obvious stuff either though.

Not sure where you live, but around here, chopper-cops still hide at key intersections the first few days of the month.

I doubt the inspections make any difference in the number of accidents, just like Fairfaxs photo radar BS. The grid here sucks balls, theres traffic lights every 10 ft and congestion. Like the other comment I do notice the air quality here sucks, feels like I always smell exhaust outside, which would make sense with all the traffic. Just get out of this hell hole, theres nothing good here.

Well, inspections force the defective owners of defective vehicles to make needed repairs before a compromised system can result in an accident causing injury, death, or merely property damage. That's plainly a good thing.

No one has any right to run a dangerous vehicle on public roads. Pay to keep your vehicles in proper repair and pay the state to check up on you. Those are the rules.

As an experiment, just pay attention to the traffic reports on the radio for a month or so. You will hear far more breakdown reports and even better, car fires, in Maryland. I have always attributed that to the lack of yearly safety inspections in MD.
The car fires in MD really light up in the summer months.

Go fuck yourself, Stalin. Annual Inspections are alive due to low IQ voter bases in places such as Mississippi, Louisiana and Virginia. Full retard in effect.
