Why do they care if we have guns?
Posted by: parentss ()

My DD best friend mother asked me if we have guns in the household, and if so how many. I told her that we can't discuss where my DH keeps them. We keep it for self defense and my DD knows that it isn't a toy, but don't you think that is a personal question?

When I was a kid, my best friend's Dad from the time I was 5 years old was an FBI agent. He would frequently come home from work when I was hanging out at their house. He'd walk into the kitchen, unstrap his gun, wrap it up and put it on top of the refrigerator next to the bananas. As he did so, he would look at us and say, "Do not touch this..." referring to his gun on the refrigerator. Back then, kids listened to adults and we never gave his gun a second thought.

Nowadays, despite the NRA's best educational efforts, people are careless with their guns.

When my kids go over to someone's house for the first time, I always ask if they have guns in the house and how they are stored. You can learn a lot about someone very quickly based on how they respond to a question about their gun ownership.

Do you want your kids playing at a house where someone answers, "Unloaded and locked in a safe."? Or where someone answers, "That's a personal question and I'm not answering you."

I have no problem with my kids playing at a gun owner's home. I do have a problem if the guns are not properly secured from access by children.

The "correct" answer to any DD should always be - NO

I agree 100% - I wouldn't want my kids playing at a house with a loaded handgun lying on the dining room table. But you never know when that's going to happen. You also don't know if they're going to accidentally touch a live power line, or encounter a pit bull, or fall off the monkey bars, or chase a ball into a street, or fall down the stairs, or etc etc etc.

I am a gun owner. I have taken both of my kids to the range (17 and 12) and taught them how to operate firearms, and, more importantly, how they are NOT FUCKING TOYS AND THEY WILL DESTROY WHATEVER THEY SHOOT. They have a very healthy respect for firearms, like all American kids should.

My dad did the same for me. I used to keep my Remington 1100 shotgun under my bed when I was 13. Even at that age you couldn't have given me a million dollars to load it in the house.

^^^This X1000. Kids today have become irresponsible and careless as a result of the helicopter parenting and further pussification of America. Media glamorizes guns, and most leftard parents don't teach their kids how to be responsible any more.

If you crave the Nanny State so much, move to the UK. (Just be careful because murder-by-knife is soaring through the roof over their thanks to their "guests."

I really struggled with this situation too much too, my friend’s mother kept asking me about guns i have when she heard me talking to my friend about guns, it happened when i bought a Glock 19 because i really like this pistol, and this is my first experience with guns i only know guns on video games, before buying this pistol i read some information about the basic parts of the bullet and the pistol and i had many exams before start using the gun, after that i wanted to make some videos about different kinds of ammo comparison with my friend and her mom knew about it and started her annoying question everytime i go to my friend.

"basic parts of the bullet"??? A bullet is one part of a round. Although technically they can multiple parts (i.e. metal jacket, phosphorous, steel penetrator, etc) it is generally considered one part.

If another parent asked about guns in the house I would assume they are either planning to burglarize me or red flag me out of libraries spite. My "DD" would get a stern warning about the dangers of libtards and find new friends. Public schools are libtard brainwashing centers. If your child speaks in favor of arming teachers during lockdown drills, expect to be visited by the cops and CPS you'll be lucky if they just drug the kid. If your kid tells his friends about opening day shotgunning for waterfowl expect social ostracization and no friends allowed over by their parents. Why any gun owner would live in the FCPS district is beyond me

Cartridge Casing, primer, gunpowder, bullet. Let me help you, that’s 4 parts to a round. Sheesh......

1) Neither that child nor their parents would be welcome in my home and would be told that to their face in no uncertain terms.

2) My 14 y.o. has two rifles and a handgun of her own. She's responsible for their proper care. I have taught her and trust her.

Like , my office partners next door neighbor had a gun for like "protection" and someone was like trying to like break in the house and steal shit so he gets his gun and gets all nervous and like shoots himself in his ballsack. And the guy who broke in the house stole the gun and some other like stuff.
The guy lost one testicle but they gave him like a fake one. Just goes to prove that guns are for like cowards.

That is the irony of gun ownership. People who are insecure and cowardly buy guns to try and make themselves more secure but the reality is that they end up killing themselves or a accidental victim 67.8% of the time and guns are only used successfully for protection 8.8% of the time. In fact every single day in the US a gun owner kills themselves about 3 times.

3 dead gun owners per day? That is very sad.
