I am not sure it matters how it the memos look to others at this point. When it comes to Trump, most people just follow their confirmation biases (Gerry is a little light on education, so someone may have to explain this to him).

But for the life of me I cannot understand why McCabe and Comey are going public with statements on their actions while with the FBI. McCabe is very, very likely going to be prosecuted - his firing was less political than the press makes it out to be - as Horowitz and the OPR left Sessions with little choice other than to fire him - and now Comey is being investigated by the IG - not an significant event and he, too, may end up getting prosecuted. More to the point, certain people dislike Trump so deeply they can't even engage in rational discourse over the events. No matter what your politics, it is difficult at this point to state that McCabe and Comey did a good turn for the FBI's reputation, which is suffering greatly at this point. Yes, they were given a bad hand by a politicized and inept DOJ, and Hillary created a huge mess for them, but none of this is working out well for the FBI. Doesn't anyone find it fascinating that Page, Strzok, Ohr and Priestap are still working in jobs for their agencies? That partisan operators like Nunes have refrained from seeking their testimony? They are cooperating, almost assuredly at this point. There is trouble for any number of people in the DOJ/FBI complex. In this context, I am perplexed whay McCabe and Comey are not keeping their mouths shut. I get it, as they are encouraged by a willing media that hates Trump beyond belief, but given the stakes at hand, they should be quiet.

Trump may not make it to the next election, but I am absolutely certain FBI/DOJ people ought to be worried, and with good reason. Get beyond the narratives on both sides, and rebut statements with detail and not mere narratives. None of this mess is good for the country.

Comey has been observed to be a "grandstander" throughout his career and his self serving book tour is no exception.

It's sad to see any FBI director reduced to promoting his book on TV .
The more controversial comments he makes, the more books he sells.
He really is making himself look cheap and unfortunately is willing to tarnish the reputation of a mostly admirable organization for a few bucks.
