It's disgusting that you adults would joke about a topic like this. The victim's name was [I have redacted the name for the privacy of him and his family]. A freshman. "[Deleted] was an excellent student who participated in marching band and Science Olympiad, among other activities. He was an engaging student, well-liked by all who knew him, and will be greatly missed by our school community."
As many know, TJHSST is a hyper-competitve school where no less than a quarter of students are regularly beat by their parents for having below a 93. Sure like any other school there is weed and drinking, but they started on the blue pill before the current Adderall craze. You all hide behind your keyboards calling our generation "weak" or "stupid", but TJ is home to the best and the brightest. Or once was. Now it's known as "TJail", where half the student body is suffering from mental health issues. The administration cares little about student health, there are only a few members there who don't just prioritize rankings.

I go to TJ, and the administration tries to kick you out if you talk about depression and suicide, they don't want it to show up on their "clean" record. there have been so many attempted suicides, the media just never hears about it. Go to the TJ Vents Facebook page.

1. While the young man attended TJHSST, he did not take his life at or near the school. You could associate him with any number of affiliations (to include the Scripps-Howard spelling bee); it's not just or only where he attends school. (The OP could have written Great Falls suicide or FFX teen suicide).
2. Give the school (and even FCPS) some credit. Despite what the other poster wrote, TJHSST makes available a lot of resources to support mental health. It's like anything: whether or how you use it is up to you. (I'm very familiar with these resources as the parent of a TJ student. They are helpful.)
3. The child's death is a tragedy, regardless how or why it happened. If you're looking to help the family or perhaps other students contemplating suicide, I suggest contacting the school or FCPS directly for more information. You're not likely to get your answer here (unfortunately) on FFXU.

We must have been going down hill for a long time.... Since before the Civil War. Since even before we were a nation. For a very long time the U.S. was known as being a place for second chances. It was someplace where failure wasn't simply an end, but also a new beginning. (OK you can vomit on that one.) In his first military campaign George Washington ended up having to surrender to the enemy. In 1776 he lead his army to a string of defeats that drove them out of New York and through New Jersey. The next year he lost another string of battles resulting in the British capturing Philadelphia. Abraham Lincoln, arguably our greatest president, failed several times before he won the 1860 presidential election. I forget how many times Thomas Edison failed before he hit on the right method of producing an economically viable light bulb. Babe Ruth struck out many more times than he hit home runs, and almost all batters have less than a 50% on base percentage. Our current president with his string of bankruptcies is following a well established American tradition.

We must have been going down hill for a long time.... Since before the Civil War. Since even before we were a nation. For a very long time the U.S. was known as being a place for second chances. It was someplace where failure wasn't simply an end, but also a new beginning. (OK you can vomit on that one.) In his first military campaign George Washington ended up having to surrender to the enemy. In 1776 he lead his army to a string of defeats that drove them out of New York and through New Jersey. The next year he lost another string of battles resulting in the British capturing Philadelphia. Abraham Lincoln, arguably our greatest president, failed several times before he won the 1860 presidential election. I forget how many times Thomas Edison failed before he hit on the right method of producing an economically viable light bulb. Babe Ruth struck out many more times than he hit home runs, and almost all batters have less than a 50% on base percentage. Our current president with his string of bankruptcies is following a well established American tradition.

While spontaneous combustion is possible only twelve cases have been documented in the United States since 1950. One classic case happened in Bethesda, Md in 1967. An elderly woman who lived at home was found nearly incinerated while sitting in a chair. She was not a smoker and the only damage was to her body and the seat of the chair. Investigators concluded that there was no possible way that she could have died by conflagration except by spontaneous combustion. At the time there was very little publicity and what there was only reported her death “in a house fire”.
