What is the best way to get from Manassass to Ladysmith, VA without driving on I-95?

Yes, I know about mapquest, but that doesn't tell me about traffic, construction, etc. Just looking for some good solid advice on this trip.

Take I 66 west to I 81 south. Go west on I 64. The second time you stop for gas and the attendant has no teeth and there are more cars on blocks then on wheels. Stay there.

Take Rt. 28 (Nokesville Road) south from Manassas to US Rt. 17 just northwest of Bealeton. Turn left, southeast onto Rt. 17 and go to US Rt. 1 at Falmouth. You will cross (over/under ?) Interstate 95 just before you get to Falmouth. Turn right, south onto Rt. 1 and go about 23 miles to Ladysmith.

There are no good alternate routes to anything along south I-95. I've tried going out west and swinging over and it takes forever.

The best way to go from Manassas is to take the 234 bypass down toward Dumfries. It drops you off on I-95 far enough south to where you shouldn't have too much trouble with traffic.

The best way to get from Manassas to anywhere is by plane or chopper. Then sky dive and or repel down from said aicraft and go about your business.
