We have always found the Irish a bit odd.

They refuse to be English.

I had grown up as an Irish poet in a country where the distance between vision and imagination was not quite as wide as in some other countries.

Growing up in an old-fashioned Bengali Hindu family and going to a convent school run by stern Irish nuns, I was brought up to revere rules. Without rules, there was only anarchy.
