What's with the strange storefront in Merrifield next to shoe repair?

Anyone know what's with the blighted dead storefront next to the shoe repair and dry cleaner at the corner of Lee Highway and Cedar Lane? There's a beat up door flanked by two windows and no signs at all. Looks like it could have been a nasty bar at one time. Anyone know the story?

Probably the living quarters for the Asians who own the businesses next door. They don't want to spend big bucks living in a $3000/mo apt so maybe they fixed up the little flat next door to live in.

It used to be a rather low rent bar called the "Horse and Buggy" that took up the entire side of the building. I guess the shoe repair and the dry cleaners went in and the rest of the building wasn't large enough for a bank or mattress shop...

That's a hot real estate location. I can't imagine it sitting empty for so long and the owner having to pay property taxes on the location.

No doubt taxes are being paid and more from rents on the rest of the building.
The bar was very small and very old even 40 years ago.
Getting it up to code would be cost prohibitive with very little return.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of the other tennants has a connecting door and iis renting the space .

It was a strip club back in the 1990's Called "The Mighty Dwarf". They had a bunch of dwarf dancers that danced on the bar, and stripped for the customers. Got shut down in 1997 for health code violations in the kitchen area. Too bad really, they served a great Shepard's Pie.

Where Merrifield USPS people hung out in the eve, with cheap dollar beers in a can out of a ancient cooler. Some time about the late 80's the 7-11 clerk was stabbed to death around the corner

The tax records may use the address of the Cedar Lane 7-11. It is all attached and fairly old. The development I work in does not list each building just the address of t huh e first building and then the square footage of all the buildings. It was The Horse and Buggy in my youth.
