True but this happened 25 to 30 years ago and you are just figuring it out now?

You probably were not around in the mid 60s to mid 80s but back then this place was like pleasant valley Sunday, charcoal burnin everywhere and white people along with some reasonably well behaved black people as far as the eye could see! Just look at this picture, that was AMERICA! I sure do miss it.

I am from here. Where are you from?

The problem isn't illegals and outsiders, it's the KIND of illegals and outsiders that are coming to the area. Some are here to make something of themselves, and contribute to the community, but most are here to exploit it. My mother came here when she was 19 from rural PA, and my father from El Salvador. Both came here not knowing anyone, didn't have an education outside of high school, and only wanted to improve their lot in life.

They however worked hard, got good jobs, and made the effort to improve themselves and the community. They adapted to life in the area, and made sure they weren't leeching off the system. THOSE are the kind of people we need in our area. Those who wish to better themselves and their families, but also want to do their part to make our area a better place.

This area is depressing, their are no good looking girls. Everyone is bland and cookie cutter boring. The nightlife in downtown dc is sausagefest drones.

Thanks for making me feel old. My Dad brought us here in the 80's to visit family friends while he interviewed for a position at a medical school. He let us choose between living where we were or moving here to take the job he was offered. I was like, hell the fuck ya. We lived in Oakton and it was great. 30+ years later......pfffft. Can't stand to leave the house.

Excellent time to have lived here. You definitely lucked out. By the late 1990s it was all over sadly.

You make a good point! Fairfax County was a nice place in the 80's with enough to do but no urban problems. With the massive influx of people into the area during the past 25 years they do not know the other NoVa, just the current shit hole with urban blight and massive amounts of illegals that have no intention of assimilating. For the rest of us we long for the pleasant suburban life with less traffic, crowded schools, and ever increasing real estate taxes for which we get less and less in return.

There were no illegals decapitating each other in our county's parks back in the day.

Fairfax County has everything.

Deport the illegal trash and make the place better. When you look at police reports most of the names are illegal roaches doing shit. Latin America has created a pretty good means to export their bottom of their gene pool troglodyte trash to the US. Time to build that wall.

It is true that the DC area has gotten to be an overpriced and sometimes an unpleasant place, but you can't say it happened in the last 10 years, or was the result of the arrival of immigrants, legal or illegal. It is the result of a number of trends and policies some of which go back to the 1970s.

Supply and demand. Lots of people desire to live in Fairfax County, and will pay a premium to do so.
