Wierd Size House on New Braddock

Anyone know what is up with the house that looks no higher than 5 feet off of New Braddock in Centreville/Clifton? It is nestled between a few mcmansions and it must be a house for small people or the house has sunk down into the ground about 4 feet.

I've seen that place. Nothing is up with it at all. It's an older home built before houses all looked like the same type of mcmansion. The other houses dwarf it, making it look so low to the ground, but it's really not. Also, I think the sloping of the roof on the right side leads to the illusion.

It is from a simpler time before people got sub prime mortgages to live in big, empty houses they couldn't afford in the first place just to obtain a status symbol.

I have no idea why those people built those homes on Braddock like that. You spend all that money to have a major thoroughfare in your front yard. i don't get people, I guess.

No privacy, noise pollution, .00001 acres of frontyard. I've seen all these Mcmansions built in Annandale and on Rte. 7 and you have to wonder how many of the houses have rooms that stay empty.

Like most things, I'm guessing it comes down to money. People today seem to want more of everything at the cheapest possible price. Given the choice between quality and quantity nearly everyone seems to prefer quantity. These people could build bigger houses for less money because they chose crappy lots.

A home typical of most of the rest of America. I've always thought it's got to be cold and clammy in the Winter. Wonder if there's a basement?

The people that originally built the house (over 20 years ago) ran out of money after they had the basement built, so they just made the basement into a house.

It's the house of someone who has their mortgage paid for, doesn't live way beyond their means, and doesn't carry credit card debt, and pays their own way. It's called the way people lived before they went insane with greed.
