Hurricane Evacuation Routes in Northern Virgina
Posted by: Time to move? ()

As Hurricane Irma gets closer we have no info on any Hurricane evacuation routes out of Northern Virginia, and where to go. When will the county gov't put the info out for us?

I don't think this area has ever been hit by a Hurricane, and there is no planing like other areas I have lived in.

If you start walking NW now, you should be out of harm's way by the time Irma gets to Northern Virginia.

Be brave.

Go west dumb ass. We're not going to put up signs and make a fucking detailed map just because you have no common sense.

Based on current tracking, the forecast for here is a half inch of rain and winds at 10-15mph...in other words similar to last Wednesday.

But I can't wait to watch all the snowflakes lose their fucking minds.

I'm not waiting until it's too late. I'm buying anything and everything I can now. I'll either get robbed or rich if SHTF here. Anyone want to buy a bottle of water for $5?

GO FUCK YOURSELVES!

WE aren't going to feel any impact from Irma. If anything maybe a couple inches of rain more than normal. I'm interested to see what Jose does.

Isabel barreled through here as a strong tropical storm about 15 years ago, that's about as bad as we can get, and i don't recall people evacuating. Power was out everywhere, some places for almost a week. I doubt you need to evacuate for even a Cat 1, a storm unlikely to hit this far inland. I'm not even sure a Cat 1 causes mass evacuations down in FL. But a Cat 5 like Irma with 180 mph winds, that's an entirely different story.

You're more likely to be toasting marshmallows in the flames of the nuke that lil Un tosses this way than having to evacuate for Irma.

Have been here since 71, several hurricanes and tropical storms. May lose power, Woodburn road closed as always, Agnes was probably the worst back in the early 70's. As for evacuation routes, shit, we can't even get to work in the morning.

Don't evacuate, there are plenty of shelters that will open in SE DC if we need them. The best time to find a vacancy is after the sun goes down. Be sure to bring all of your personal valuables with you to keep them safe from the storm.

Start driving in a circle on the Beltway, and wait for further instructions that will be broadcast from the Mother Ship on WTOP.

Well dumbass, if he started working at 18 in 1971 he would be 64. Most people do not retire before 65.

Army brought me here. Given the alternative at the time, here was good. Still working, love my job, like a lot of people in this area if I told you what I do I'd have to shoot you. Will probably work past 65 or as long as they will let me.

My dad retired at 50. His brother retired at 55. I am to be retired before 45. More people than you think retire before 65 because they are wise with their money and don't live paycheck to paycheck. I guess we know which type of person you are.

Agnes was the worst hurricane to hit this area,in the early 1970s. Essentially, it was like Harvey dumping lots of rain over days. On the upside, it almost single-handedly filled Lake Anna which was in it's early formative stages, waiting for water to fill it over time.

And on the downside, it single-handedly destroyed the Lake Barcroft dam and completely emptied the lake.

I passed over Lake Anna on Rt 208 back then a week before Anna Hit and it was only a depression with a small creek and trees cut down..Heading to a Shooting match..Natch.. Turkey Shoot..With real turkeys behind a log.. Fellow named York won the Match..

By Jan 73 the lake was bout filled..as history tells it.. I never knew what it was or that it existed then..till 3-4 years later..Just a place as I described..

There Was Not Much ..South Of A River Back then at all. Couple gas stations at I-95 and Rt 3..Thats bout it..Probably a place to get some type of "MAC"..LOL!
Then Old Houses..Churches..and Robert E Lee Elementary by the Spotsylvania Ct House..and there Not Changing It Antifa ! Its Till there ..
