Why do they do that in Jail? My cousin just came home from doing a 7 month sentence, and he has lost 25lbs and looks like hell. We were putting $100 a month in his books so he could buy some food in commissary, but he lost that after he defended himself from his cellmate who wanted to steal his property. It's very unfair, and I gave jail officials a piece of my mind in a phone to them. The rights of our loved ones are being trumpetted by them, we need to stand up for inmate rights since they won't do it.

Jail food meets nutritional requirements for adults. Just because your cousin was fat and sloppy looking before he went in jail doesn't mean the jail food was unhealthy. He lost weight because there are no Big Macs or Dairy Queens in jail.

Guess what. I spent 6 mo. In the county hole because uncle Sam said so. And I did ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong. Had the government sieze my car, And sell it while I was incarcerated. I lost all my body fat which was ten whole fatso pounds. And I starved till the next meal evrything meal every day. With meals only being a barebones existance tease. why should an honest citizen when they find themselves in a predicament like being falsely accused have to put up with this torture. So assholes like people on this board who have no first hand exerience in jail can say"oh quit crying it's not supposed to be nice" ok I hope the next time a cop hands your sorry asses a speeding ticket, instead of giving you the ticket locks your ass up for 4 or 5 months till your court date. Hopefully you won't be able to afford to bail out early.. WOW. Complaints about the food in jail. This is just the tip of the American iceberg. Know why so many gangbangers don't care if they go to jail in this country?? Because where THEY come from jail is hell and rights??? Forget that. Here, we feed, clothe and provide cable television and weightlifting. If more people knew that time in jail would be truly a nightmare, it might be a deterrent.
And, I have always been told the VA Corrections standards for food are the same as the schools. In fact, the food in the FX jail used to be partially made at Woodson High.
