Man Charged After Making Coffee Naked

http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/local/1019...d_faces_charges
SPRINGFIELD, Va. - A Springfield, Virginia man is facing an indecent exposure charge after a passerby spotted the man naked in his kitchen and reported it to police.

Eric Williamson, 29, is a commercial diver who grew up in Hawaii and rents home with several co-workers. Williamson told FOX 5's Will Thomas his roommates were not home and he walked into the kitchen to make coffee about 5:30 a.m. Monday.

"Yes, I wasn't wearing any clothes but I was alone, in my own home and just got out of bed. It was dark and I had no idea anyone was outside looking in at me," Williamson said.

The complaint came from an unidentified woman who was walking with a 7-year-old boy. A Fairfax County Police spokesman said officers arrested Williamson for indecent exposure because they believe he wanted to be seen naked by the public.

Officer Bud Walker said officers also consulted the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office and they were given the green light to proceed with the charge.

Williamson, who is father of a 5-year old girl, said he feels like the victim.

"I am a loving dad. Any of my friends and anyone knows that and there is not a chance on this planet I would ever, ever, ever do anything like that to a kid," he said.

Williamson is meeting with a lawyer to fight the charge and may attempt to seek damages from Fairfax County Police. If convicted on the misdemeanor charge, he would face up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine.

At 5:30 in the morning now it is very dark out... what mother would have her 7-year-old kid walking around with her at that hour? I think the police were questioning the wrong person.

I tend to believe the guy on this one, if you can't walk around your house to make coffee, especially at an hour that 99.5% of the area population is still sleeping, then we might as well start reporting the the Queen again as we're turning into a nanny state like the UK.

I can see the defense now questioning the lady, asking if he waved his cock in a threatening manner, or gave any reason at all to believe he knew they were peeping on him. He probably didn't know... next time it is dark out, turn on a light and step away from the window a few feet and look out of it, you don't see anything but the reflection of the room.

omg, HAHAHAAAA!! I think this dude lives across the street from me!!

There were a bunch of cops talking to someone out in front of the house yesterday-i don't know how long they'd been there, just that were still there when I left for class at about 11:30 AM.

Only reason I'm positive is because I actually looked through the arrest/ticket search last night to see if anybody from that house had ever been arrested for anything before... i searched my street and found that an Erick Williamson had a couple of arrests to his name, including one for being drunk/profane in public.

I (and the people I am referring to) live on Arley drive, and there's always about 6 cars parked in the driveway and on the street in front of this guys house.

I wasn't aware this dude liked to walk around naked...but then again, there seems to be a lot of shady people living over there.

This whole story totally made my day :D

Considering its not a massive crime, he should go on the defensive and tell the police to drop the charges or he'll file a multi-million dollar lawsuit for malicious prosecution. That and he'll go on news stations and grant interviews to anybody who is willing to listen. Go on the offensive and make them learn that its not worth the pain to deal with a guy who is standing up for his rights.

No shit. Plus, I highly doubt that at 5:30am on a 35 degree morning she had her 7 year old out for a walk. Who the fuck does that? It's probably some nosy, fat, annoying cunt who hates her husband (and by proxy all men) because he's had enough of her nosy, annoying, cunty ways and is about to leave her ass.

EDIT (addition)- whatever happened to live and let live? If he wasn't at the window, swinging his cock at her, who gives a shit? I've walked around my house naked before, but I'm not out exposing myself. There's a BIG difference.

I used to live near Arley Drive...all the houses are far enough away from the sidewalk that you would have to be trying to look into someone's kitchen to see anything. Every house has a driveway and pretty big front lawn....damn nosey bitch!

If he had been looking through her window, he could have been charged with peeping.

When she looks through his window, why does he get charged?

My question to this man is why was he naked for three hours? The girl and her mother were walking to a third bell school at 8:30 in the morning.
Was he growing the coffee beans himself?

He may say that he was naked at 5:30 AM. The girl was walking to school after 8 AM. HMMMMM

You are allowed to be a nudist inside your own home if you want. She may have spotted him and then lied to say her kid was with her in order to get the police involved. She may have hated the guy because he lets his dog crap in her yard years back or he lets his grass grow long in the summer. This lady sounds like a busybody who has nothing better to do.

Hey,

The report was filed after 8:00 AM. The child and his Mom were walking to school near a crossing guard. The school was contacted.

If school begins at 9:00,why would a Mother be walking her child to school at 5:30 in the morning?

There is something odd with this timeline!

This naked guy, living on Arley, across the street from you
aledgilly (sp) was spotted in front of his window, out in his yard, and then at the door au natural.

That is a little bit more than brewing coffee at some early hour in the AM.

This "innocent" guy should go out and invest in sturdy curtains. How would he like his five year old to see a naked man? Or a house full of nakeds?

It's all Jack Dale's fault. If school was started later (or earlier) than it is currently, this would have never happened.

Also - supposed for shit's sake it occurred at 8:00am. Or even 7:30 am...it's light out, which makes it HARDER to see into a window. So, if that's the case - that cunt had to have been peeping. If it happened at 5:30 or 6:30, why was she out with her 7 year old? It doesn't make sense.

And if it turns out that his charges get dropped, I'd look into charging that women with peeping, false statements to police, etc. etc.

Looks like you're starting to twist the story around because I didn't see it written anywhere that he went out in the yard and back to the door, all while in the buff.

The house is apparently being rented by multiple people and only since late summer, so I'm just amused by the fact that the first I ever really see of this neighbor is of him being arrested for doing what seems like a very typical thing a guy would do-walk around the house naked.

Maybe he should put up curtains in the future...but really, what's the big deal?

I only got a shady feeling because there appears to be a lot of unrelated people living there and yet I hardly ever see any of them around.

I don' t understand this doesn't indecent exposure have to be public? If you're on private property, especially in your own home it stands to reason you wouldn't have to worry about.

Can I be arrested as a sex offender now for walking from my shower to bedroom naked??? If you look through the windows at the right angle at the right time from the right place I'm sure you can see something indecent.

This is BS and should have never been charged.

I haven't seen the arrest report for this guy. He went to the media to report it on his own.

What is in the arrest report?

I think that Fox5 got the time of morning wrong. Also, he was doing more than making coffee. (Well, based on what the 'unidentified' woman reported to the crossing guard at Sydenstricker and Arley.

The Police Crossing Guard doesn't arrive to the intersection until 8:35. She was there when the woman was walking her son to school. It was daylight out when the naked Man exposed himself 'full frontal' on three separate occasions. In front of a window, outdoors, and then at the front screen.

I haven't seen the report, I doubt Fox 5 has a copy of the detailed arrest report.

I'm a bit confused as to why the lady just stood there with her precious watching while the guy exposed himself in the window, in the front yard, and at the front screen. That kind of movement takes a bit of time, I imagine... more time than someone would have just casually walking by.

Last time I checked, it is illegal to look into other people's windows, especially to see them naked.

I would hope that the guy would demand that she be charged with being a peeping tom.

I think he is within his rights to do so.

She's already admitted it in a statement to the police.

PLUS, she can be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possibly be placed on a sex offender list, and be forced to live a certain distance from parks and schools.

i doubt this guy would lie about the time.... clearly the correct time (when ever this woman complained) will be in the police report, so there is absolutely no reason for this guy to lie. Even it was 2 PM, you should be able to walk around with your balls hanging out on your own property (given it should be inside) if you want to.

So a guy goes to the news and FCPD wont comment beyond "Yeah, we arrested him for indecent exposure" due to ongoing investigation.

Sure sounds like someone is trying to do some damage control. What I find funny is that this probably wouldn't have made the news at all and probably would have passed without incident.

But now, even if charges are dropped, this guy will forever be known as the weirdo who makes coffee naked.

I've said it before and I will say it again, the FCPD need a major budget cut. They are one of the most overpaid, underworked, police forces in this country, If they have the time to spend on BS like this, (this would have never happened in Richmond) it's time we tightened the purse strings on these jokers.

Va. man charged with indecent exposure in home

Associated Press
10/21/09 2:50 PM EDT SPRINGFIELD, VA. — A Springfield man is facing indecent exposure charges after police say he stood naked inside his home as a 7-year-old boy and his mother walked by.

Twenty-nine-year-old Eric Williamson denies any wrongdoing and says any exposure was accidental.

But Fairfax County Police see it differently. Spokeswoman Mary Ann Jennings said the woman and her son first saw Williamson standing naked inside his doorway as they walked along a path outside his home. Police say Williamson then followed the two from inside his home and exposed himself again through a large front window.

Police would not pursue a case based on inadvertent exposure, Jennings said.

The charge is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.

FOX 5 also spoke with some of Williamson's roommates, and they said they believed Eric was drunk on Monday morning when they were all leaving for work around 5 a.m. The alleged exposure happened around 8:30 a.m. Williamson, however, says he was drinking on Sunday night, but was not drunk on Monday morning.

Williamson didn't report to work last week and was fired from his job last Friday. One of his roommates stated that Williamson was behaving oddly when he was leaving for work Monday morning.

I just went down to my kitchen to get a glass of water.

I may or may not have been wearing clothes.

If I wasn't wearing clothes, did I commit a crime?

Or, I guess I should ask, if there was a crazy nutbag woman who likes to peer into people's windows, did I commit a crime?

The function of conservatives is not to meet every liberal program or scheme with a denunciation or a destructive counterscheme, but rather to weigh its advantages and defects, supporting the first and challenging the second. A declaration of ideological warfare against liberalism is by its nature profoundly unconservative. It meets perceived radicalism with a counterradicalism of its own.

my kids would not think any more of seeing a naked person than they would a clothed person (generally speaking). Naked is how we all look. Naked is one of the most real things there is. Your young kid is somehow shocked or scared at nudity - wtf?

I saw that report and tend to believe that this dude is just some fuck-up that probably deserves the charge. The news story also said that although he claims he was in the kitchen at 5AM, the woman said he was standing naked right at the front door at 8:30.

The dude loses his job, acts crazy all weekend, is walking around the house naked and drunk off his ass at 8 in the morning- it all sounds suspicious.

Fox news showed the path they took and sure looked to me like they cutting across his front yard. At 8:30am is light outside so how did they see in the house?

What was this pervert doing peeping in his kitchen window?

Police wouldn't release the incident report or the name of the mother who filed the complaint. FOX 5 has learned she is a respected member of the community, and just happens to be the wife of a Fairfax County Police officer...

I nearly died on the floor when I found out that I know one of the roommates of
Eric Williamson.

Eric didn't go to work last Thursday & was fired from his job. He has been known to walk around the house wearing only a hat & no clothing.

His behavior could get somewhat bizzare.

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but he has had complaints before about his odd behavior outside of the house.

Doesn't surprise me.

There are community tennis courts and a path next to the house. The Markarian family owns the house; I went to school with Sandy Markarian at WSHS. The Markarians rent the house to a Company associated with undersea diving.

The woman and her son were walking on the path from Aquary Ct. to Arley. They were not on his property. They were on the Community path next to the tennis courts.

There is a bus stop across from this guys kitchen window and open screen. He has been seen wandering naked in just 'gazing' out of his house full frontal nude. He was planning on moving prior to this incident.

It means that they probably don't have jack shit go on or that they really jumped the gun on this one. But if they can dredge up some vague recollection from a neighbor, then maybe, just maybe, they can make this thing stick and not look like complete idiots.

His roommates are claiming he appeared drunk that morning when they left, so I'm guessing he was drunk, doing his normal naked coffee routine, and was drunk enough that he didn't realize he was in front of an open door and then an open window.

If I remember correctly, the indecent exposure charge requires intent to be seen by others. If he's drunk and unaware that he's in public view, I don't think they're going to be able to prove intent.

If someone is blatantly standing in their front street-facing window, and it can be determined that they are intentionally showing off naked for passersby in doing so, then I can understand such a charge. However, this is obviously not the case here, and the lady should be charged for being a peeping tom, and quite possibly for unlawful trespass upon the suspect's property.

Also, who in the hell is out for a stroll with a seven year old at 5:30 in the morning?

So being related to a Cop somehow automatically makes you a "Respected member of the community"? What a load of BS. Maybe I should marry a cop, then go shoot-up a 7/11 for the hell of it.

What sucks about VA law, is that you cannot "Cross Charge", which means that if someone brings charges against you for an incident, you cannot bring charges against them until your own charges have already been dealt with in the system. I do agree, I believe he is well within his rights, but it's up to the Judicial System now.

Also, by the logic that authorities are going on in this case, I can conceivably walk up to someones window, and so long as I can see something "indecent" through their blinds, I can report it. Maybe while they're at it, they should charge that ESPN Host with "Indecent Exposure" for "allowing" that Peeping Tom to film her through a Peep-Hole.

All I have to say is the majority of people think he is innocent...I am one of those. I walk around naked in my house all the time. My dog doesn't seem to care, although I think he might have some homo-sexual tendency...he never brings home any bitches, just smells them at south runk. When I walk around naked I can see him staring at my junk but when I turn around and my ass is in his face he doesn't look. Does he have a taste for redrocket??? I personally think that both my money maker and my right hand magnet look fairly awesome. No complaints in that department.

I've done laundry naked. I'll walk downstairs and wait (nakedly) for the dryer to finish. Then bust a quick move and put on my freshly warm clothes...however, zippers, plastic buttons, etc can get a little bit warm and I've burned my self a few times...mainly in the ol' eggbeater.

So this lady is a wife of a FC Cop huh...well I'm sure they are looking for more and more people to come forward so she doesn't look like a dumbass and won't make FC Police look bad either. I like the police (kinda...well only when they help me out) but they are just getting laughed at because this is STUPID! The reason why it's in the news is because it's so outrageously dumb.

In conclusion,

I don't know if this wife bitch is a peeping tom or not but she is nosy (sp?) Someone wrote that windows in your house is for looking out....you don't look into peoples windows unless you want to be a peeping tom. So in a way she is.

Hey lady who started this ordeal....I have something I would like to show you...wanna take a gander at it?? Just kidding....DONT FUCKIN LOOK IN MY WINDOW BITCH!

If that is the case, then Trespassing would not apply, but I am not certain in regards to the "Peeping Tom" code. I would still say that the guy is innocent however, because any location which you would expect privacy under normal circumstances (ie, inside your home), does not, by it's very nature, allow for "Exposure" to be declared in regards to the aforementioned.

Thank you Clobbersaur... for posting this reply.

If I stood naked infront of my screen door or uncovered window, I would assume that people could see me. Especially if there is a school bus stop right across the street from me.

I blame two people for all the hype surrounding this. The media and an ignorant public. The media for first reporting a story based soley on what the guy says and taking it on it's face as truth. I mean, if that dumbass Fox reporter would have just stopped for a moment and asked himself, "Wait, why would a mother and her 7 yr old be walking to school at 5:30 in the morning?", he may have learned his first clue. Now that he has spilled the beans even he is starting to learn more facts about the case, like it happened at 8:30 in the morning, not 5:30 like the bad guy is saying.

Hey, wait a second! Maybe the bad guy is talking about the OTHER person he exposed himself to at 5:30 in the morning. He must of been too drunk to remember the later inicident.

Anyway, I'm glad he said that because he just gave the police reason to believe there was an incident inovlving him that they didn't know about previously. Thank you Fox news.

The second group to blame is the ignorant assholes that have gone on blogs like this one and staunchly defending this guy and calling the woman and her son trespassers and peepers without knowing all of the facts of the case.

And the reason the police can't release all of their facts: because it could potentially destroy the guys chance at a fair trial. Thats right, government can't do that. But nothing is stopping this Williams guy from having the court of public opinion acquit him without having to present a shred of evidence.

So you the judge and jury, stay on top of this story right through court and then comeback and render your verdict.

Because in a sexual assault case the victim's identity is shielded, thereby enabling accusers to feel free to make accusations, unfettered by fears of backlash because they can remain safely anonymous.
