I was on the set every day they were shooting in Hawaii, a total of 18 days, earning $65.00 every hour I was there, if you want to know the truth.

No, I've never heard of that.It was mostly filmed about a mile from the Turtle Bay Hilton, and at Wiamea Park on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. I lived there for 15 years. Heres a pic of my bike at Ala Moana beach.

Well, that proves it. Everyone knows Durk is the only person to ever own a Harley in Hawaii, so there's no way that could be some random photo that Durk just pulled off of the Internet and posted.

These were taken by me before I sold it. I still have the ignition switch from that bike, if you want, I can take a picture of it, and you can match the model and year from it. And to HAHAHAHAHAHA,At that time I was paying like 2 grand a month in rent in Hawaii, and supporting my ex, plus two kids in Montesorri School, that was all I could afford. He said Elliot is "not a nice person", and believes the sometimes controversial radio host will be sorry when his book becomes a "phenomenon.""

It's ranked 736,816 out of four million something, so thats still in the top 17% of Amazon sales after 7 months out, but yeah, I'm working on improving that, thanks for your time and interest!

My understanding of publishing is that only about the top 1 or 2 percent of books sold actually make a real profit for the author. If your book is not in the top 5 percent, it is in the hinterland of sales. The real question is, have you made back the money you spent on publishing it?

Yeah, I have, but just recently, but that will be moot soon, because I need to give them more money to edit the stupid grammatical errors I missed the first time. It will make the current copy a collectors item. I rushed it because I was finally done and being impatient. You're absolutely correct about the top percentages, but 'real profit' is subjective. A publisher commits to hundreds if not thousands of copies to 'published' writers' eating up profit if the book doesn't sell. With POD, there's no books I have to buy and then resell unless I choose to, like at book signings. Borders of Annapolis had 10 copies of Strings of Connection in October, but when I checked last week they had all been sold and they said they were going to order another 10 copies. Ya know, if you guys would read the book, you may actually enjoy it then help promote it, and who knows, maybe when I become a known writer you can have some 'remember when' stories about how you used to rag on me relentlessly on this web site and for whatever reason I kept coming back for more..... stranger things have happened...lmfao

This is the truth about Howard and DC101

It is a common myth that Howard was fired from DC101 as a direct result of the Air Florida incident. This is simply not true. Howard left the station months after that incident. The station at that particular time loved the publicity of this and the other major stunt which was when Prince Charles was coming to town before the wedding. Howard was "concerned" about a 40 something Prince marrying such a young girl. Howard then started calling local elementary schools looking for a "date" for Charles since Dianna was not accompanying him, DC101 got a letter of protest from the British Embassy and the letter was framed in the offices at 1150.

It is true that Safeway, Giant and Pizza Hut all pulled ad dollars from the station, but not as a direct result of the Air Florida stunt. There were other issues, involving Howard and not involving Howard.

The truth is, Howard was working without a contract - his had expired. Howard tried again and again to start the contract talks, but he kept getting the brush off. Finally Howard signed a deal with NBC and showed up for work at his usual time. He then gave "notice", went on the air and did the one thing he was under contract not to do: mention his boss's name, Goff Lebhar, on the air. With him gone in X weeks anyway, Goff was informed (woken up), Goff called the station and Howard was "fired".

Interstingly enough, DC101 added Adam Smasher and the Greaseman after Howard's departure, At first, the company said it was not going to be personality driven, but then went against that statement. Also, Mike McKay, the evening guy was let go shortly after all this. It took the station 20 years to recover ratings wise (if they ever did) from when Howard/McKay/YDB were there. Interestingly, At the top of HFS's popularity in the early 90s, the 2 stations became almost neck and neck in the Arbitron ratigs at 3.4 versus 3.2, a far cry from the 5.x'sDC101 pulled in durring the Howard days.

Who am I? Wow that's a question for everyone to ask themselves isn't it? Scientology is a religion founded by L. Ron Hubbard, and while I find him a half-decent sci-fi writer (mission earth series was fun), I wouldn't call him my Messiah.
I consider myself a Pagan following a quasi-Wiccan path. After the realization that organized religions were founded on hypocrisy designed to control by fear, I found that Wicca not only allows one to accept or reject ideas or beliefs that harmonize personally, it encourages it. We all accept the fact that there are powers beyond our own understanding of the universe, right? One of the reasons organized religion is so well accepted is the fact that it gives a reasonable answer (supposedly) to unreasonable questions i.e. Why do babies die? Because Jesus called them, or, it's God's will and not for you to question etc etc. Combine that with the blatant contradictions found in organized religions and you can see why I have arrived where I am. Wicca accepts the fact that different things harmonize with different people.

I accept the Goddess and God more as an archetypical representation of the balance of nature. I consider myself Wiccan, because I know that there really is a flow of energy, ki, call it what you will, that touches EVERYTHING, and that just by my existence and knowledge of it, I'm responsible to add as much positive energy back to it as possible. Not to sound too Hippy dippy, but I really feel that if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Take your garbage for instance, I assume you recycle, because in my world everyone should and does. I guarantee that Wiccan/Pagans would CRUSH Christians in the Environmental Awareness Olympics. That's what we're really about if you boil it down to the empirical. Our religion is based on reverence to our planet, and the mysteries that make it tick.

Listen, you can just go back with Tom Cruise and your other buddies. I hear he was going to buy some land out in Fauquier County, maybe you should make sure that deal goes through so you guys will have a nice little starting point to spread your cultish Scientology drivel to the rest of the region. You people and your anti-social religion make me sick.

The rest of what you said is possibly the most intelligent thing you've said so far in this thread. However, this new age Wiccan/Pagan thing doesn't have a leg to stand on when it comes to reverence to our planet in comparison to Taoism/Buddhism and other eastern religions. Not only that, but your "flow of energy, ki," is actually Qi/Ch'i from the Chinese as well.

Perhaps I'll tune in to listen to the interview on Friday and see how it goes. Good luck, you're going to need it.

And the Crusades were just friendly membership drives, right? Nothing anti-social about that. It's your own hypocrisy that's making you sick, you write in opposition out of fear, a poster boy for the pope. If you look deep inside yourself (again, something you'll probably NOT do because of your fear-training- good boy! good boy! now SIT!) You'd probably find you agree with the bible only because everyone else does, it's the path of least resistance, the easy way, and not because you actually believe the Fairy Tale within. People like you that talk shit out of ignorance is what makes me sick. You want anti-social? Look at your posts directed to me- I'm sure your Priest would be so proud of you! (provided he's not molesting some little boy instead) Your negativity is proof positive of your hypocrisy, fear, ignorance, and lack of education, etiquette and class. Choose a path and stay on it dude, either be a flaming asshole or be a Christian-pick one. Opps- too late.

LOL

That kept my interest because I am far from a christian, or any religion for that matter.. I don't read religious texts in general and have not attended church, outside of other people's weddings and funerals, since 1982, when I was three. I don't believe in religion, period. The truth probably lies in a disparity of ideas so great that no group could ever organize to overcome it, however, that doesn't mean I don't believe in a creator. And Jesus was probably a magician.

Way to make assumptions, Durk. Stereoypical scientologist behavior there, buddy. Go back to making notes in the margins of Dianetics.

Way to show off that edumacation! A masseuse is a female therapist, I'm a masseur, and don't portray myself as anything. I got those gigs because of my healing skills and professionalism.

I agree with you completely "The truth probably lies in a disparity of ideas so great that no group could ever organize to overcome it" hence my attraction to Wicca, and yes Jesus probably was a magician, that's an astute observation, but I still don't see the connection to Scientology. Your lack of any type of faith explains your hostility though, so thanks for clearing that up.

this has nothing to do with the thread topic but I love the Wire! best show i've ever seen. i'm currently half way through season one, i've been watching out of order i guess you can say. Season 4 was the first I saw, then 3, now i'm watching season 1

of course I was always a fan of "the corner" so naturally when I saw the HBO special I knew I would be a fan of this show

Mike00, it's also my favorite show. Season 4 was the worst in my opinion. I also watched them out of order (seasons 3,1, and 2 in that order), and I wish I had watched it in order to begin with. I have all the avi's if you need any episodes.

I never saw the corner, because I think the dvd is too expensive and I haven't seen a download available for it.

Again with the gay crap? Christ, show a little imagination! It amazes me the number of freakish homophobes there are on this little web site! And I'm trying to unseat Rowling not Grisham, so what? Everyone should have a dream to shoot for, don't you think?
And just to piss you off, I'll let you know I was the exclusive massage therapist for the exotic dancers in about 7 different clubs in Waikiki Hawaii for years, and have massaged women so hot, you could only dream of them! And I'm 45, not a boy, and yes yours was yet another immature post.

Durk, the fact that you hate being called a homosexual so much is very insulting to homosexuals. I mean, it's suddenly wrong and bad to be a homosexual? You react to being called gay as if you are being called something worse than a Nazi.

I think that you honestly believe being gay is worse than being a Nazi.

What, there are no gay scientologists?

I don't hate it, or think it's worse than being called a Nazi, I've got nothing against gays or lesbians. It just pisses me off that some people automatically associate massage therapy with homosexuality, and it's generally the same type of people that automatically associate Witchcraft with evil. I've been dealing with those jerk-offs for 26 years and I just grow tired of the ignorance, like your scientology BS, where does that come from? Do I automatically assume you're a pencil neck geek with no social outlet? No. Do I claim you're a pock faced dickhead that's never been laid? Nope. I'm just trying to get the word out about my book, and I give you guys the opportunity to actually ask intelligent questions to gain some insight, which to date, all have ignored.

See what I am talking about? You all have sex-obsessed one track minds. Firrat, you totally misimply the meaning of my statement and try to turn it around and make me sound like a gay man. You are a shameful being. Those boys, first of all,, were almost completely still clothed, first of all. And second of all, I want you to carefully examine my photo, and tell me if you want to come to my house to learn more about the various art forms I am heavily involved with, including Wicca, mmale-male massage "therapy", and dirt bike racing. See, I know how to have fun. Just look at this smile:

Thought I'd let you know that the current self-published edition of "Strings of Connection" will no longer be available after March 2007, so if you want the 'collectors edition' you should get one now. A professional editor read it and actually loves the story, so on her advise, the revised edition will be available around Thanksgiving by one of her publishers. Thanks for all your comments and support, it's been entertaining and enlightening.
