They were willing to give Melancon his money, but they offered him only two years. SF offered him the same money, but for three or four, I forget which, now.
Supposedly, Washington Management is trying to talk SF into trading him. If SF is a contender, this year, it AIN'T GONNA' happen. Supposedly, they are interested in some guy in Chicago and another one in Oakland, as well.
Baker and his coaching staff were sure that Trienan could handle it. He was OK as a reliever last year, but this year he AIN'T been so good.
If Washington is going to make it to the Series, it had better do it this year or next year, at the latest. After 2018, too much of the team likely will be gone.
Werth has this year left on his contract. Do they let him become a free agent, do they give him another year and keep him, or do they sign him for another year so that they have control of him and can trade him to an AL team as a DH and get someone of value for him? If he continues his improved performance this year over last, I would love to see him on the Red Sox as a DH. He has not done poorly in the field, either.
Harper is a free agent after 2018, He has stated more than once that he always did want to play for the Yankees. The Yankees have the money to buy him. If the Yankees do get him, I hope that he gives them subpar years like he had last year.
Michael A. has improved his hitting and is good in the field, but he has improved that hitting only from poor to average.
Goodwin shows promise, but can he replace Harper? He could replace Werth.
Zimmerman is having a career year, so far, but will he fade in 2018? Not unlikely.
Rendon, Murph-the-Surph and Turner will still be around and likely performing well, but will they be enough?
Will Weiters stay?
Scherzer is 32, not too many years left in him. Gio is inconsistent. Tanner has his bad days, but is generally pretty good.
