Great school, great teachers. They teach things in 6th grade there that public school students don't see until college, if they even go.

It has long had a great reputation.

Long ago, when they were two separate schools, my parents wanted me to try to get in to St. Stephens for 7th grade. The test didn't just measure IQ, it covered material I hadn't even been exposed to, like pre-algebra. Also, don't laugh but they had a question "Diagram this sentence: The fox jumped over the fence." I drew a picture of a fox jumping over a fence. LOLLL. The thing is, I knew all about subjects/verbs/adverbs/adjectives/prepositions, etc. But the term "diagram" was no longer used, at least in FCPS for conjugating sentences. It was like a I was taking a test, in 1981, that had been designed in the 1960's. Bottom line: I did crappy and the guy said I would have to go to summer school to prepare for entry into 7th grade there. To my relief, my parents dropped the idea and I went to Walt Whitman and got almost straight A's.

Have some friends who sent their kids there all the way through, at considerable expense, and the kids placed in mediocre to good colleges, but turned out to be really good young adults.

SSSAS isn't bad. I basically repeated a year progressing from 5th grade there to 6th grade in FX public schools. But it's insanely expensive, and the cliques (at least in the lower school) are vicious. Good school, but...

SSAS

Super Students in All Sports

If you kids don't play sports, don't go.

That's all they care about.

They're protestant schools so they prob dont care about making your kid any smarter.

As opposed to Catholic schools where they get to learn about superstitions and stunt any church-unapproved learning.
