I listen to police scanner occasionally at night with ear buds. Best times are late Friday and Saturday night, Loudoun County sheriff uses the Motorola X2-TDMA protocol which only the latest scanners can do. I have the Uniden BCD436 portable scanner which can decode Motorola X2-TDMA.
Interesting things heard this past weekend: (The dispatcher radios to the police what the caller told him)
-Woman called police because brother-in-law was barricaded in his house threating to harm/kill himself after a week long drinking binge. According to the woman calling, the brother-in-law was screaming.. "I'm done here!", over and over again. Not know if there were firearms in the house. Happened in Loudoun County somewhere.
-Police in Fairfax on the lookout for two men putting a very drunk almost passed out woman in the back of their car off Backlick road somewhere. Caller thinks the woman did not know the men (how the caller knew this beyond me) Caller gave description of the car (forget myself what it was) and thinks they were heading towards 95.
-Caller called about a group of kids wandering around some cemetery in Loudoun county late at night on Friday. Caller turned on his high beams on them and the kids scatters like cockroaches. Caller could only identify one kid by stating he was wearing a red backpack.
-Caller called about some car hitting his car that was parked on the street and causing significant damage. The car drove away before the caller could get a good description of it. Caller thinks it was a car leaving a big party up a hill from his house. (Not sure where this was, I was almost asleep by this point)
-A few folks being pulled over for speeding and other infractions, license checks done with the dispatcher.
