History's not with you on this one.

The last superintendent promoted from within FCPS was Jack Burkholder back in 1982. Every superintendent for the past 30+ years has been an external hire, and only three superintendents in the past 130 years have been internal promotions.

FCPS likes to hire its head honchos from outside the system.

I will say that if Lockard doesn't get the nod, he's probably not long for FCPS, period. Garza imported him from Frederick County Public Schools (a/k/a the other FCPS) in 2014, and he'll probably leave when his current contract is up.

It won't be Lockard. He would not have been named interim if he applied for the job. That was part of the agreement. He will return to his Deputy role and help the new leader transition. This will be another external hire.

Former WPHS Principal Alex Case will be named. He did say he was moving on. Travel and shaking up with co workers while married for all FCPS!

They are all in it for the money. Both the headhunters and the Supers.
