Trash Picker

Confession time. I am a trash picker and unashamed. I found a perfectly good storage system w/ drawers (missing a knob) at the curb for trash day, brought it home, took a picture of it, and sold it on Craigslist for ten bucks. If I saw ten dollars lying on the ground I would pick that up too. This is the same thing.

I get all my lawnmowers, televisions, computers, etc. from the curb. There's always plenty of furniture and exercise equipment to be found as well.

I am amazed at how many people put perfectly good basketball hoops out by the curb. I have probably found a hundred and resold them on Craigslist.

we're all wonderful until we get caught....but i'm sure your "wonderful" husband is different....keep telling yourself that snowflake while your husband is out rimming hookers because you just don't feel like putting out as much any more...yea, i'm sure he's happy....happy he hasn't had to give you half yet

I once picked up an old curb side Fischer stereo. It had 8 Telefunken 12ax7s and 2 6bq5 power tubes. A pretty good find.

One of my neighbors once put a very nice set of American Girl doll furniture on the curb. It was in perfect condition so I brought it home and took it too the Salvation Army. Very expensive stuff and it would have been a shame for it to wind up in the dump. I'm sure it made a little girl very happy.

The thing that amazes me most is the number of expensive nearly-new lawnmowers that people throw away, some of them are barely used. I've been incredulous enough to verify with the homeowner they did not want their lawnmower; usually they cite some minor problem that could be fixed for less than $10 in parts. One simply had too much oil causing it to smoke.

Every week there are always countless televisions, video cameras, computers, satellite TV gear, toys, and the ever present exercise equipment. Most of the stuff is not even broken and has nothing wrong with it.

You didn’t have to do that, it wouldn’t have gone in the trash.

I once picked the trash of the old Arthur Treacher's over in Fairfax Circle.

Found a perfectly good Fanta dispenser and some leftover fried fish and hush puppies. Delicious!

I once found a German BMW automobile by the curb with the keys in it. I was feeling charitable, so I drove the auto to the Goodwill Donation Center. I am always amazed why people will throw away things that still have a usefulness.

In the time I've lived here I have seen 3 cars put out with trash. However none of them was driveable.

You could probably furnish a whole household w/ stuff you find around here. People have no problem throwing out perfectly useful items, just because they tire of it. We have a neighbor who throws out their decorated Christmas tree every year. It's pretty sad, actually. The weirdest thing is, sometimes it's a real tree and sometimes it's fake but it always looks pretty, just sits at the curb until the trash man comes to get it.

I hope they don’t have children. That would be cruel.

One persons Trash is another persons Treasure. Yeah Ethanol is getting many people, but clean and it's good to go, but most do not know how to do that and Just buy a New Mower. I only look for Older Real Wood furniture now, scrape the paint off and stain, Real Gems out there.
