Will the J.C. Penney at Springfield Town Center Close?

J.C. Penney on Friday published a list of the 138 stores they will be closing in June in an attempt to help their struggling bottom line.

The closures, announced in February, are expected to start with liquidation sales on April 17, and will displace about 5,000 workers.

The only Virginia stores that will be closing are the ones at the New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg and the Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke, so the location at the Springfield Town Center is safe (for now).

Well, once Princess Diana got turned into road bacon it seems pointless to keep the JC Penney's open at Springfield Mall...it was her favorite store and yeah, despite the new paint and tile, it will always be Springfield Mall. Doug Funk would want it that way...

I go there sometimes and it seems like there are a lot of customers, so I bet that store is doing well and won't fold.

I can confirm that we are going to be turning this location over to ARthur Treacher's corporation. They will construct a new Arthur Treacher's here where you will be able to get amazing, hot fresh fish and chips. And Fanta, too.
