Dozens of firearms stolen from Chantilly gun store

By Gregg MacDonald Fairfax County Times Mar 13, 2017 Updated Mar 13, 2017

Fairfax County police say they are investigating the theft of 35 firearms--nearly three dozen--from a gun store located at 13930 Metrotech Drive in Chantilly.

Officers said they responded to “50 West Armory” early Saturday morning for a commercial burglary alarm.

Although a variety of firearms can be seen in store photos, police say they believe that only handguns were stolen.

Suspects can be seen in a video surveillance photo carrying what appears to be a large plastic tub out of the store with no stocks or barrels sticking out, which would support that assertion.

Store representatives said on social media that "everything that was taken has a serial number and has been reported to the appropriate departments." They also indicated that the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is also involved in the investigation.

The suspects are described by FCPD as follows:

Suspect 1: Black male, about 22 to 30 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, and approximately 190 to 210 pounds. He had dreadlocks and was wearing a dark blue jacket.

Suspect 2: Black male, about 18 to 22 years old, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, and approximately 165 to 185 pounds. He was wearing a dark jacket with a silver stripe down the sleeves, jeans, black shoes, and light colored gloves.

Suspect 3: Black male, about 18 to 22 years old, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, and approximately 150 to 170 pounds. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans, black shoes, and light colored gloves.

Police say they are also not ruling out the possibility that this case may be related to multiple guns that were stolen from the United Gun Shop at 5465 Randolph Rd. in Rockville, Md. two days earlier on March 9.

"We are investigating the possibility," said FCPD spokesperson Tawny Wright.

At least two suspects are believed to be involved in the Rockbridge case, according to Montgomery County Police Capt. Paul Starks.

Starks said that in that burglary, a number of handguns as well as "long guns" were stolen. As in the Chantilly store burglary, suspects were also caught on surveillance cameras.

Police are asking anyone with information concerning the Chantilly incident to contact FCPD Detective Song at 703-591-0966.

Suspects attempt to break into Fredericksburg gun shop

http://www.fox5dc.com/news/local-news/241929559-story

POSTED:MAR 15 2017 10:09PM EDT
UPDATED:MAR 15 2017 11:13PM EDT
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - For the third time in less than a week, a gun store in the D.C. area was targeted by thieves. The latest incident happened Tuesday morning as suspects tried to break into a Fredericksburg gun shop. However, this time, they were unable to get in and their attempt was all caught on video.

It is unclear if the same suspects hit all three stores. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is involved to help investigate all of these cases as gun store burglaries in the country are on the rise.

The Fredericksburg attempted break-in happened at the SSG Tactical gun shop. Surveillance video first shows a U-Haul van pull up outside the business at around 5:40 a.m. Two men in hooded jackets get out of the van carrying large storage bins.

The second part of the video then shows the suspects using a tool to shatter the front glass door. Then they try to break the lock on a second cage door. However, they were unable to get inside and the two suspects took off a short time later.

A gun store should be more secure. If I owned a gun store I would install ballistic glass or bars on the storefront and a secondary cage inside like a pharmacy . How embarrassing to have a gun store robbed when they cater to security. At the bare minimum they should grab all the guns out of the cases and put them in a gun safe every day before closing.

Better yet...............just stay overnight in the store. When they break in just shoot. Nobody sees them enter so nobody needs to see them leave. Just cut up the bodies stuff them in trash bags and toss them out. It's that simple. Killing is the hard part. Disposing is the easy part.

Blue Ridge Arsenal has armed security guards on duty during non business hours.

I knew a guy years ago in southern Virginia that owned a gun store/pawn shop that kept a few timber rattlesnakes he caught in the store. He used to throw them down on the floor at night as a supplement to the alarm and locks.

I was just thinking why don't all gun shops have armed security officers posted outside the store in a vehicle (Chill ass job for Security people). Would serve as a better deterrent against would be criminals looking for the easy get away with valuable and/or lethal items.

So what we have here is a case of three
GOCs who refuse to follow the law.
Liberal "thinkers" will tell us that we need more and stricter laws .
The gorilla in this thread may be of color or not but stupidity is no respected of race.

"why don't all gun shops have armed security" Because they are insured for theft. It cost far less to have theft insurance than to pay the salary/benefits of a security officer and the insurance coverage for liability if said officer shoots someone and the store gets sued. Thank your litigious society for making it this way.

How easy would it be to take over a parked vehicle containing the only security for the store...

Armed security guards cost money dumb ass.

I think the Fredericksburg store got it right. They didn't get in did they?

If Blue Ridge Arsenal can implement it, so can most other gun shops. Every extra measure of Security placed to protect assets and people will cost some more money. Otherwise shit like that happens. That's life......dumb ass.

Not as easy as you think, especially when dealing with a well trained alert Officer. Situational awareness. Also, the main objective of having a clearly visible Officer in a vehicle, is to deter any possible attempt. Most criminals are looking for the easy grab and run scenario. They are not going to risk getting into a gun fight.

Responsible gun owners keep their firearms locked in a vault or safe. The asshole(s) who run this shop, and made it easy for niggers to do what niggers do, ought to lose their FFL.

We need more laws to regulate storage of guns! What if a child had broken into this store?
