Fairfax County Police are currently searching for human remains in two Fairfax County parks: the Holmes Run Park in Alexandria and the Lemon Road Park in Falls Church.

The police got a tip and detectives are now searching the two parks along with both live find and cadaver dog teams from FCFRD as well as a cadaver dog team from the Montgomery County, Maryland Police Department.

On October 7, 2013, Nelson Omar Quintanilla Trujillo was stabbed to death in the Holmes Run Stream Valley Park, and on March 29, 2014, Gerson Adoni Martinez Aguilar was stabbed to death and beheaded there. Both men were buried in the park and later discovered based on informants' tips.

The two murders were among many other charges leveled against 13 members of MS-13 in 2014. All of them either plead guilty or were convicted and given sentences from 22 years and 8 months up to multiple life sentences.

The cops don't mention MS-13 in the latest report, but it's a pretty good guess it's them.

MS-13 just killed 15-year-old Damaris Alexandra Reyes Rivas in Lake Accotink Park back in January, then moved her remains to a spot off Wimsatt Road near the Robinson Terminal, where they were found on February 11.

The current working theory is that Reyes Rivas was used as a honeypot, along with another female, to lure 21-year-old Christian Alexander Sosa Rivas of Fairfax to his death in Prince William County in January.

I was surprised they came back as fast as they did myself. I figured with thirteen of them taken out of the game it'd be a while before the rest of them got so brazen again, but I forgot my own advice, which is never to underestimate the stupidity or viciousness of criminals.

Per FCPD, they've completed searching at Lemon Road Park in Falls Church, and will continue with the search at Holmes Run today.

I'd sure like to know what exactly they think they completed. I drove by there yesterday and it was just a bunch of cops putzing around, standing there drinking coffee and shooting the breeze. Didn't look like much work was going on. Must be nice to have a "job" where you can goof off outside all day whenever the weather gets warm, just tell people "we need to go search someplace".
