MGM Casino charging $75 to get in New Years Eve
Posted by: Problem Gambler ()
Date: December 29, 2016 02:13PM

Just saw MGM requires a $75 resort fee after 5pm on New Years eve. Tickets available through Ticketmaster. I called and asked if you went in before 5 if you would be allowed to stay or if everyone without a ticket will be kicked out. The young lady I spoke with said let me go "axe" and came back and said no one knows. Imagine the hilarity that ensues at 5 when everyone is asked to leave and has to cash out. And if no one is asked to leave, I guess just show up at 4:30? Seems like a something that would have been decided on already. Hope I'm not the first one that considered that.

The gaming industry is the world's leader in face recognition technology. They'll have pictures of everyone in the casino prior to the required resort fee so they will know who is legit and who needs to be legit removed.

Expect a major chimp out when they start throwing out nogs that have been there all day.

Well, there goes at least 50% of their customers.

No athletic gear is gonna kill the nog contingent.

I doubt they'll ask anyone to cash out at 5 if you're there gambling. They'll probably come around at some point later in the evening and check for tickets if you're not dressed in formal wear. It's sort of a dumb idea but I imagine a few thousand people would show up on NYE just to get plastered if MGM didn't charge a big attendance fee.

Wondering if any of the other MD or WV casinos are charging to get in NYE, or have a dress code?

You can not show up there to get plastered without paying a fortune. No free drinks in MD casinos per state law.

Life pro tip: Even if they served free drinks at the tables you'd be spending a fortune in gambling losses.

Maryland is an otherwise great state. That is one law that needs to be overturned.

yeah its such BS that a business, where people are walking around with thousands of dollars and tables are stacked with chips, won't allow guns.

Appears entry is sold out. Funny that it was not widely published that you needed a tic for entry NYE. I predict many problems with people not aware they cant get in tomorrow evening.

No one of consequence is walking around a gaming establishment with large amounts of money. Before I fly into Vegas, I contact my local bank there and have money wired to the casino where I am staying. I have a standing proxy in my favored places that when I cash out the house automatically wires my money back to my bank. Typically, I get the wire notification on my phone before I'm breathing outside air. MGM National Harbor has the same capabilities. Be advised, without house status, there are fees for any transfer less than $500,000...heavy fees.

Okay, big roller.

Most people from the DC area, (me included) are walking into MGM with less that $500.

$500 is a small enough amount of cash for you to easily transport without drawing attention to the fact that you have it on you. Which leaves you prone only to the random odds of being set upon by an armed mugger.

Additionally, $500 is also a bank roll so small it would not grant you access to the VIP areas and high stakes gaming areas...

High stakes wealthy gamblers are very common on this forum.

I wonder why?

Because they speak with the honesty of the Clinton family. And the same amount of delusion.

we were in there before christmas and some guy stood up at the table and shouted "ill put a fuckin bullet in your head" and then was tackled by security. i wouldn't doubt if people would feel safer carrying a piece in there. it was real shocking.
