District 22 of the Virginia Senate is a senatorial district that encompasses all of Amherst County, Appomattox County, Buckingham County, Cumberland County, Fluvanna County, Goochland County, part of Louisa County, and part of the City of Lynchburg. The current Senator from District 22 is Republican Thomas Garrett, Jr., who is stepping down because he was elected to Congress in November.

My name is Dave Marsden and we need Democrats from Fairfax to help turn the 22nd blue in a special election on January 10.

A few weeks ago, I wrote to you about the Special Election. I asked you to join the campaign by contributing or volunteering and so many of you answered our call, I knew I could count on you.

Now it is time for us to make our voices heard in person. Senate District 22 is only about two hours away. Please join us for our canvassing trip, our first test in standing up to the Trump agenda:

The candidate for the Democrats is Ryant Washington.

According to Scott Haney: "Washington, like all Democrats, was a crook before he became a politician. Ask his Scottsville employer why he was fired. Caught on camera stealing."

A member of the Fluvanna School Board is unhappy that a candidate for the General Assembly used public school buses to transport supporters to the Democrats’ December 3rd convention in Farmville. Charles Rittenhouse, who represents the Cunningham District on the Fluvanna School Board, is challenging the use of the buses for the Ryant Washington campaign.

Washington is the Democrats’ nominee for the 22nd District State Senate seat, which is being vacated by Republican congressman-elect Tom Garrett of Buckingham County. Ryant Washington’s wife is Camilla Washington, who chairs the Fluvanna School Board.

Rittenhouse wants to know why departing School Superintendent Gena Keller allowed the use of the buses for the trip to Farmvville. He plans to quiz Keller about that decision at the school board’s December 14th meeting.

Ryant Washington lost to Mark Peake. Washington received only 39% of the vote.

Ryant was finished once the locals heard that Fairfax Democrats were involved in the Washington campaign.
