No, teachers don't have a "right" to ask, and she can keep her opinions to herself during the school day. She is an English teacher and should stick to the curriculum. None-yer business the immigration status, or socioeconomic status or marital status, or occupation, etc. Teach grammar, literary constructs ... Plenty of important work to do without being a busy-body.

What angers me, is why are they having assignments on "How does this make you feel"? And, "let out your anger, curse if you have to"?

Isn't this feeding the kids minds that they should be feeling angry? Talk about brainwashing for the very reason for the assignment.

And asking about immigration status is only to let the child know that Trump will only deport illegals. Isn't that teaching?

How about getting back to reading, writing, arithmetic, memorizing presidents and how the government is organized. No more "how does Trump make you feel" assignments. Insane!

At our school, the teacher never asked such questions. And I really liked studying there. But it's time to write a dnp capstone and I'm definitely going to need help. I haven't done this kind of assignment before, so it's better to ask the experts for help.
