A 38-year-old driver has minor injuries as a result of a road rage incident. The victim called police at 1:45 p.m. this afternoon and said he was driving on the inner loop of I495, in the area of National Harbor when another motorist started driving aggressively next to him. Just prior to Braddock Road, the other motorist pulled to the driver side of the victim’s car and suddenly the passenger window shattered. The victim then noticed blood on one of his fingers. He pulled off on the Braddock Road exit and waited for police and rescue. A 4-month-old girl was in the car and uninjured. The victim was treated on the scene and the child was checked out by paramedics.

Detectives located the other driver and the suspect vehicle, a white Chevrolet Trax that was involved. The 25-year-old male driver was interviewed and no weapon was recovered. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been placed at this time.

WASHINGTON — Road rage led a man driving on the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway to shoot at another man who had his 4-month-old child in the back seat Thursday afternoon.

After a road rage incident that began near National Harbor, a driver shot at another driver on the Beltway near Braddock Road in North Springfield around 1:45 p.m.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, received minor injuries after the suspect shot out the window of the car. The victim’s 4-month-old daughter was in the back seat at the time and wasn’t injured either, police said. Emergency crews treated the man’s injuries at the scene.

After the incident, the victim exited on to Braddock Road, pulled into a gas station and waited for police to respond.

The suspect, who has been identified, was driving a white Chevy Trax, police said. There is no threat to public safety, police added.

Wow. Not too suprising though. Glad the guy and his kid are okay. Hope they nail the perp. with attempted murder. Because, that's the correct charge. When you shoot at someone a reasonable person would know that the result could be death. Also, even though the perp was angry, he had time to form intent.

Some of the blame must be laid on the victim. What kind of asshole engages in a road rage confrontation with a child in the car? I hope they charge the dad with child endangerment.

White Chevy Trax? That's like an $18K car when new.

Guess the demographics of the shooter.

With all the cameras on the beltway, should not be too hard to find.

Oh man I can think of at least 5 crimes - Brandishing a firearm, firing a firearm in Fairfax county, loaded gun in vehicle, launching a projectile at a moving vehicle, failure to pay full time and attention to driving, attempted murder, endangerment of a child...

"Police located the suspect at a restaurant in Vienna, Virginia. Police have not released the name of the driver, who they say is 25 years old and driving a white Chevy Trax."

No self-respecting young redneck is driving a white Chevy Trax. If it were a Mustang or F150, then I might give the benefit of doubt.

No self respecting nog is driving a Chevy Trax either. Unless he was in a hurry to steal a ride and a Trax was the first thing he ran across.

Life's a bitch, and then you fuck up.

I do want to know what the victim did that pissed him off. I bet he was in the fucking left lane holding up traffic for miles. All the way across the bridge; almost to the 95 divide when he hits his brakes to merge right, then right again and one more time to continue holding traffic hostage from the left lane of the inner loop. Traffic is now all fucked-up with several cars having near-misses with people trying to get around the fool and others just trying to avoid slamming into him. Some breakaway and speed past him, FINALLY. One gives him the finger. Another just the evil eye. But one really burned-up guy, gives him the bullet.

NOT THAT ITS OKAY TO SHOOT AN ARROGANT LEFT-LANE DRIVER WHO GOES 55 MPH and pretends like its his right, but someone doing this can make someone else mad enough to want to kill him.

Okay, where did he throw the gun?

additional story details: when the toll road began, the victim was forced to relinquish the left lane to pass holders. That’s when the enraged driver who was blocked-in for at least 6 miles approached the victim on his left and gave him a little more than the finger.

Victim said he didnt know why the guy was angry at him. I believe it. So many people go crazy over nothing. I had a lady furious at me for turning into her lane at a light. I used a blinker and had plenty of room and the light was red. She was just speeding the last 100 feet to a red light. I just waived 'thank you' to her.

this is simple. neither news agency reported the persons names, though there is no reason to hide these people from readers.

crime breeds in anonymity.

WTOP doesn't say a weapon was used or that the person fled - WTOP is heavily democrat and was told by www.fallschurchdemocrats.org to hide the story

the PERP is likely an illegal mexican

and who'd forget that in fairfax, since obama got in office:

* an hispanic illegal DWI case killed 2 Catholic Nuns, Jesus!!

* an hispanic illegal shot a Catholic priest, "road rage" they said.

was a priest in a previously white area church. he was likely replaced by a hispanic priest i might add, and was *an* *accountant* of funds at the church - which by my guess - were used to buy mexican "work for the poor", and all missing now, my guess - how the spics dominate "jobs" that way. their tactics in government are not that different.

======================================

BOTH NEWS AGENCIES HID NAMES

ONE EVEN HID A WEAPON AND FLEE WAS INVOLVED

A lot of you assholes think using the blinker is some giant key to do whatever the fuck you want. You may not even have the right of way, or you are doing something completely illegal and are too fucking stupid to realize it - but because you have your blinker on - everything is just fine.

I don't give a fuck if you have the blinker on and a letter from the Governor. You fail to yield right of way and we're going to meet after I hit you and we wait for the cops to come issue you a ticket...and I get your info so I can get half of a new car.

Ten years back, I was driving at night in another state on an interstate with two lanes in my direction. Speed limit was 70 mph.

I was probably going about 72 or 73 mph and came up behind a semi-trailer in the right lane doing exactly 70 mph. I pulled into the left lane, hoping to pass the truck, but there was a sedan in the left lane going along side the truck.

I figured that the sedan would move to the right lane and let me pass as soon as the driver saw me. Instead, when I got within about 5 or 6 car lengths from the sedan, the sedan driver lit up his emergency lights for just a second or two until I backed away. It was an unmarked police car.

I moved into the right lane and stayed at least 7 car lengths behind the truck for miles as the unmarked police car and truck proceeded side-by-side at exactly 70 mph. Cop finally left the highway close to the state border. I then passed the truck as we proceeded into another state.

I was glad that I didn't tailgate the cop or flash my brights or honk to try to get him to change to the right lane. (Not that I ever do any of those things.)

Never quite understood what the officer was doing. Maybe a rolling blockade to keep people from speeding?

Tells me a witness driving past the incident at 75 MPH, identified the wrong vehicle/person.

Maybe its time to stop designing the metro area high speed highways with left lane entrance ramps. Once you get dumped into the left side high speed lanes, just try and find someone who will let you merge over 4-5 lanes all the way to the right lane when you soon need to take a right lane exit within a mile or two. Around here it seldom happens.

It means someone was next to him, and started driving aggressively. Use your fucking imagination, dipshit!

Causeican - Nothing you wrote is based on facts - all assumptions. This makes you look really dumb.

There is no indication the victim did any type of driving like holding up all traffic in the left lane.

The fact that his driver's side door was shot out indicates he was in the right lane and the perp pulled up next to him on his left side.

Why do you assume the victim was holding up traffic in the left lane?

When I was in school in the '80s, the Maryland State Police would run rolling blockades on I-95 from north of Baltimore to the Delaware line on weekends.

I saw one such rolling blockade in the southbound lanes while headed back to school. It was weird to see no traffic for a while followed by three cruisers and then about fifteen miles of traffic jam.

Assholes.

You provide no source for your "additional details."

You posited that the victim was probably blocking the left lane in a prior post, then provided "evidence" of this with your "additional details." Where are these "additional details" listed except for in your post because they are certainly not in the WTOP link and I have seen them nowhere else.

I.e. you made it up.
