CENTREVILLE, Va. — Behind the million-dollar homes off Bull Run Post Office Road, the quiet woods hide what was once a counterculture rallying point that drew skateboarders, punk rockers and young people searching for acceptance to a remote area of western Fairfax County: a country club with the best halfpipe on the East Coast.

In the 1980s and early 1990s, the skateboard ramp, incongruously built on the grounds of what was then Cedar Crest Country Club, was an underground mecca with an energy that still reverberates for three filmmakers with local roots who remember what it was like to skate along its steely sides.

Now, a documentary film details the ramp’s story and its place in counterculture history. “Blood and Steel: Cedar Crest Country Club,” premieres Sunday evening at The State Theatre, in Falls Church.

I think I last went out there in the summer of 1990. great times there, and the other ramps. There was a wood ramp (were) which went to a 1/4 pipe in the woods near Wilmington Drive in Burke. Another was near Henderson Rd. just down from Ox.

I learned to drop in at that Burke Lake Rd ramp (now Wilmington Dr.) in the 80's!

Can anyone post a map of where the Cedar Crest Ramp was off of Bull Run Post Office Road?

I'm kind of curious to get a look at the remaining concrete slab and ruins

I went over there one time back in the late '80's but I think it was at this location from what I remember

I went out there last weekend. Was able to put together the location from Historic Aerials and Google maps. Red circle is the location of where the ramp was. It's pretty over grown now. Would be better to go back out in winter or Fall...
