At 7p this evening, the City Planning Commission received a presentation by IDI on their proposal (2 options) for Paul VI property. Much later in the meeting, Mr. Meyer discussed his predictions of demographic growth for, basically, our nation and specifically our City. "In 30 years..." what we're going to have is a a population growth like we've never had before. But more than that it will be a growth of different people, different jobs, different life-styles. It will be a different world. He did not really say all of that but that's what I heard.

What he said was wise. I was impressed. The idea of what I heard him saying has been troubling me for some time. However, I never really identified it
But it all fit when I heard him talking about it. It's like Watching the tide roll in. We talk about it on here all the time. From different driving styles and different ways people interact. Well, different cultures and not relating, really. Anyway, in 30 years I'm likely not here. If I am, I'm a short-timer.

I've decided on a different course tonight. This is my childrens' world. I'm going to stop trying to mold them to my experiences and understandings and start encouraging them to take their world any way they see fit. It's their world. I haven't a clue and, I'm okay with that.

That's all well and good, but Fairfax City needs leaders who will trade meth for gay orgies!

There will be no city left for your children, dock boy. That's the problem. You're handing over an impossible situation to your children and mine. Leadership is lacking and that's our fault. It's time for an independent review of all business the city has transacted for the past 10 years. It will open your eyes. Then the future belongs to those who are willing to take responsibility for it.

1,000-1,200 new apartments on the property? Are you shitting me? This is downright stupid. No need to kowtow to the developers. Make it a park and forget the traffic nightmares that are bound to follow.

When they built the condos next to the Vienna Metro they said people who buy there wouldn't need cars but they have them anyway. Oopsie or just plain stupid?
