What will happen if I refuse to sign my current contract to teach for FCPS? I was offered a promotion by HR, and then fucked over and lied to, whereby I was not allowed to take the promotion. I advised my current building Principal before 6/15/16 that I did not want the teaching position, however she claims she did not receive my email. My contract was just generated, and due to the outright fraud by FCPS, will I be released from my position if I do not accept the contract?

Yes, I do have a copy of my email. However, I have been told by insiders that FCPS will amend policy as they see fit. I do not want the teaching position. However, I do not want to be flagged with prejudice. From my understanding if I do not sign the contract they will be forced to release me. It seems however that FCPS likes to play games.

Get your union rep involved

Your principal is doing you a favour that you perhaps don't deserve and you don't even realize it.

She conveniently "lost" you email so that you would still have a job if the promotion fell through.

It may very well be that Gatehouse screwed you over -- that wouldn't surprise me at all.

Your principal had your back and looked after you. You should be thanking her, not vilifying her.

Oh yes..indeed they do. It's their own special version of the Hunger Games. I too, have been a victim....and I know others who also have suffered.

Actually, I am not allowed to be around "young children", as I have taught high school for almost 18 years. I also a certified administrator with my doctorate in educational administration. In high school, fuck is a common colloquialism of typical student vernacular.

FCPS loves those. And, once you are hired, you'll make administrator in no time, and all you'll have to do is go to meals and conferences and occasionally write a snotty letter saying a matter is closed.

Actually, I was hired from out of district, and I did not complete Onboarding until after the 26th. In turn, my "Professional Contract" was not generated until 8/31/16. If I were to decline the contract, what will happen? It is not a resignation, just a failure to agree upon terms.

Dont know if you have heard, but Virginia is a right-to-work state so teachers are not unionized in Va.

nothing says you simply cant resign. Just because you signed a contract does not mean you have to stay the entirety. Every employee signs a contract whether it is a 199 day contract or a 260 day contract, but we all are still able to resign. I know I've done it once and was stupid enough to come back :P

I heard a job opening in the Superintendent's office just recently came up. You might want to look there.
