Longtime U-Va. film professor arrested on child pornography charges
A longtime University of Virginia film professor was arrested Tuesday amid allegations that he was in possession of child pornography.

Walter Francis Korte, Jr., 72, was arrested and charged with two counts of possessing child pornography after police obtained warrants and searched his campus office and his home on Fosters Branch Road in Albemarle County. Korte was taken to the Albemarle County Regional Jail, where is being held without bond. A trial has been scheduled for Sep. 12. His attorney could not be immediately identified.
-Va. police said the investigation into Korte began July 29, but they declined to offer details about what led to the charges. University spokesman Anthony P. de Bruyn said Korte has been placed on administrative leave.
Korte has headed the Film Studies program in the university’s Drama department since 1970, and he is considered a top authority on Italian cinema, according to a biography that appeared on the university website but has since been removed
