FCPS Legal Fees (vote NO on the Fairfax meals tax)

Some of the pro-meals tax people have said things like "that $40,000 consulting fee was not that much" or "why complain about a breakfast" and so on.

Well, when you get to FCPS' legal fees, we're not talking small numbers any more.

It seems Supervisor Cook shared a common concern and asked FCPS what they spent on lawyers.

FY 2012: approximately 2.6 MILLION
FY 2013: approximately 1.4 MILLION
FY 2014: approximately 1.3 MILLION

They are spending about $300/hour on lawyers.

Some of these expenses are unavoidable. Others clearly are: the felons, FOIA, Marie Lemmon, and so on.

The pro-meals tax people toss around the figure of $2.11 as the tax on an average meal. If you use that number, it would take just over 616,000 meals to pay the FY 2014 legal bill. My oh my, that's a LOT of meals.

FCPS needs to take drastic steps to cut spending and be better managers. There's just no telling what this TJ lawsuit could cost, and the possibility of several pieces of transgender litigation is very real.

Force FCPS to behave responsibly. Vote NO on the meals tax.

Here is an excerpt from the official document with the legal fees:

Yeah, I could see the TJHS lawsuit running into millions, the only way to settle it is to admit people to TJ that they probably don't want to have to admit.

before democrats in VA

lawyers, "public defenders" were paid $10,000 and often complained VA didn't send their wage

today they are getting $150,000 - 15x previous wages

democrats are all about hurting the poor

today there is a dangerous revolving door between court contract hiring and private in fairfax (your hired or public defender is paid by the gov - very likely to bend over for a butt fuck to the prosecutor - likely has lunch with the prosecutor)

$10,000 a year, not per case

they were expected to pay the rest of their bills by working or getting private cases

Virginia Representatives (Virginia Congress members) are still only paid $20,000 or $30,000 a year up to year 2012 I last looked.
