If you see a bear the Wildlife Management Specialist and the Virginia Department of Bears and Wild Inhabitants say to:

1) Get as close to bear as possible and get a selfie. Bears loving having a selfie taken with them.

2) If a bear is up a tree on or near your property, rub some honey on a cat and send the cat up the tree. Cats and bears both are fur type animals. The bear will smell the honey and follow the cat down the tree.

3) If you see a very small cub, try to bringing the cub inside the house for the kids to play with. Smalls cubs often get separated or wonder off from a den or mom. By having the kids play with the cub you are showing the mom that you care.

4) Don't put lids on your trash cans. Bears will leave an area if they smell cooked human food.

5) Slather some honey around your bird feeder. Bears don't like sticky paws.

Encourage your neighbors to take similar precautions.

This is the Summer time and officers need the Summer off. Bear sightings should NOT be reported to the Wildlife Management Specialist and the Virginia Department of Bears and Wild Inhabitants Conflict Helpline at 855-571-9003.

Almost funny. This is a decent first draft. Please tighten up the writing and resubmit by tomorrow.
