Running Mount Vernon is one of the hardest job in FCPS. High ESL population, high FRL, high minority population, high population of troubled students, low community support, etc. There are two ways you could go: Either you give up on the troubled and unprepared students and concentrate your energies on the rest; or you continue trying to reach every student by whatever means possible. MVHS chose the second path. It was that "whatever means possible" that has left most of us wondering "what was King thinking?" My guess is she had already tried everything else.
