I was sitting at the light at this intersection this morning when some retarded person (looked like a younger brunet white chick) in a Lexus SUV barreled through the red light going west on Pope's Head Rd. without touching the brakes, somehow made it across the northbound lane of the parkway, and got crushed in the southbound lane by a sedan and another car. Looks like everyone got out after a minute and started walking around. Traffic was instantly backed up a mile in the SB lane.

Please pay attention folk. That could have been way worse. If you do that to me with my family in the car, rest assured you'll catch beating before the cops arrive.

BTW that intersection has the most accidents of any intersection in the country, but surprisingly none of them have been fatalities, so I've read.

NOVA is a "red plus 3" zone. After the light turns red, 3 more cars go through the intersection. Pretty standard.

Hope you hung around long enough to tell the cops that the self absorbed whore caused it.

Frank: That is the exception. Most of the whacko drivers on our FFX county roads have had 3 driving lessons and then BAMM, they are behind the wheel.

Pope's Head Road...why? Fairly simple intersection. Straight forward. No traffic coming on or off with merging lanes, on and off ramps. No round about. And yet, the amount of accidents is ridiculous.

The project is not underway. It is on the Fairfax County DOT wish list. No funding unless the meals tax gets approved!

What will be funded in the short term is an extra acceleration lane for those turning right onto the southbound or northbound FFX Cty Pwy, pedestrian signals and better crosswalks.

How about we just stop for red lights?

3 second after red rule?

I saw at least 4 people throughout the day today go thru red lights. This is nothing unusual as I see it everyday. Add on aggressive driving and tailgating and that's why the accident rates are so high. Add on speeding, driving 50+ in a 35 and it gets more dangerous for all of us. It's also why people get critically injured.

Totally sick of it. For tailgating, running lights and everything else listed give them all reckless driving tickets and 6 points with no waivers from the judges in a court of law. Anyone, everyone, get it done.

It's basically the only way to wake up drivers to the "rules of the road" that everyone else conforms to drive by.

I live in this area. One big problem is the long light on Popes Head. The intersection needs to be reconfiguration. This area is used as a. Drivers cut through and get annoyed at how long it takes for the light to change and then it cycles in less than 30 seconds. Help!

I agree 100%. I was in Vegas maybe 10 years ago in the downtown area near the Golden Nugget and there was a man in a cage 8 x 8, exposed outside to the public, kind of like a lion would be kept in for a period of 30 days. He was a drunk driver that caused serious damage to another family. He was actually given that choice by a judge or a much more severe penalty. That is a great concept that should be adopted for this area for serious auto accidents that could be avoided. Why not!

There was an accident this evening at Lee Chapel and the parkway, another relatively simple intersection. A couple of cars collided in the middle of the intersection. Seems like there are a lot of accidents along the Fairfax county parkway at these types of intersections. Maybe they should consider eliminating some of them in favor of interchanges, because the number of dumb fucks isn't decreasing.

If I see the person waiting in front of me is looking down at a device while the light is red, I'm blowing the horn as soon as it turns green. You're ONLY responsibility at a red light is to stare at the light and GO as soon as it turns green!

Remember reading the post on this Underground link about drivers getting there licenses with just "3 driving lessons behind the wheel" and then there family friends passed them with legitimate papers. They were paid off, bribed.

This has been happening since forever. That was the closest DMV when I worked up the street from there in 1990-1992. I made the mistake of trying to get my driver's license updated with my new address one day at lunch.

I went through the doors, and turned right back around. The place looked and smelled like a Cairo train station.

And for the person who wants to blast thru the intersection as soon as the light turns green without pausing for a second. One of two things will eventually happen to you - 1)you will be in a serious accident because one of these nut jobs went thru the red light or 2) you will be in the Obit section.

Smelly foreigners on the road are indeed scary; however, the two incidents I witnessed yesterday looked like white woman to me. Don't forgot that women can't drive worth shit, and still have cheaper insurance rates.

In my own neighborhood, Merry Maids car which was parallel parked against traffic flow (wrong direction) lurched out of it's space right in front of my car, this morning.
A near head on collision.

They obviously weren't looking, but how could they?
A truck was parked in front of them!
If they would have parked like everyone else with the car faced in the proper direction .. They may have seen me coming, by using their side view mirror.

Regardless, "they couldn't see"! Someone did that to me just the other Day - enter the road and almost kill me. Why? Because they couldn't see! There was a truck blocking their view. Why do they move if they can't see if the way is clear?! I just don't get it.
