Why don't gays carry guns?

103 people shot. Hundreds more escaped.

Not a single person shot back.

Why?

Could it be that the LGBT supporters and the gun control supporters are all the same people?

Or maybe it was a restaurant full of Quakers?

If I identified with a group that constantly whines about being afraid of attacks, I would certainly be prepared to defend myself.

Of the three that were "packing" heat, they literally had it up their fudge-packing holes. When you can't access a weapon when you need it... why have it at all?

They did but you can't take out an assault rifle with a handgun. They really need to be packing RPG's.

FYI, there are a couple well-attended firearms organizations that cater specifically to LGBT populations. The Pink Pistols is one such group and the leaders have spoken out publicly in the wake of the event in Orlando. There are plenty of LGBT people who fear for their lives and safety on a routine basis and CCW because of it, and as a straight person, I don't blame them.

In many states, you cannot carry in an establishment where alcohol is served, which would presumably include a bar/club like the one where this happened. Regular patrons and law-abiding citizens respected and followed the law; the asshole responsible for this did not. Even if you were carrying, trying to hit a moving target without backup in a (probably darkened) room full of people where everyone was panicking and running for their lives would be damn near impossible. Did you read the account of the guy in the Colorado Mall shooting who had a CCW? He wasn't confident he'd be able to hit the shooter without hitting someone else and therefore didn't fire. I would very much like to know how someone with his background was able to obtain a firearm, as it appears he had been flagged more than once.

Against the law to carry in bars in FL. Gays are good law abiding citizens.

And their was an armed cop as security who was out-gunned, so it wasn't necessarily a soft target.

Times?) paper that LBGT there had had unresolved harassment problems in SF and petitioned for funds to build and operate a LGBT friends Police Deptartment (building and all), which would be sure to respond to such calls as the other dept. had (refused, had other things to do, what).

do you see? a community can act, community effort is essential, not all communities should trust the other to not have conflicting interests

protection isn't something that only the police or perps hold. community is something everyone can have

meetings on varying community levels ... all too infrequent for what is needed

usually so if someone reaches for their pocket they do not trigger the wrong gun

This is a particularly ignorant post. If there is one community that knows about violence, and antisocial behavior generally, it is the LGBT community. Look how often people post "OP is a faggot" or variants thereof here. Look at how often people are beaten up because they are suspected of being gay. And, it appears that the shooter was was bullied in school and may have been a self-loathing gay man. (That must make you particularly proud.) Your suggestion that the LGBT community does not "beleive (sic) in mean people," while ignorant, is par for the course here.

Did the broke back mountain boys carry guns -- I didn't see the movie (I avoided seeing it).

He didn't use an assault rifle - those are illegal, you cannot buy them. If anyone had been armed, they certainly COULD have stopped or slowed him down. One shot to the hand, shoulder or head would have done it.

One of the victims was a TKD black belt, who had taught it for many years. Lot of good it did him if the shooter was 39 feet away.
