As far back as the mid-late 1980's it was hard to describe Fairfax County or Arlington County as distinctly southern. Manassas still had a southern/country/good old boy feel to it so the dividing line was probably Prince William County.

WTF is transplant snob cocksucker for the feds culture? If this is a backwards way of saying when did this area become dominated by those who came here from elsewhere to work for the Federal government, the answer would be from around the 1950s to the 1970s for Fairfax, and earlier than that for Arlington.

It roughly doubled again from 1940 to 1950. From 1950 to 1980 the population was growing at a rate 15,000 people per year or more. Most of the growth from 1940 on came from outsiders who came here to work directly or indirectly for the Federal government. By 1980 you only have remnants of old NoVa.

I would say really after 9/11 when government expanded more and more transplant shitheads came too the area.

I also think the county lost part of its soul when the Fairfax County Parkway was built also.

I've lived in this area (Washington Metropolitan) my entire life. I'm mid 40's. I can tell you that this area has always been loaded to the brim with self-aggrandizing people. It has to do with the fact that most of them either work directly for, or sub-contract with, the Federal Government. Most aren't worth half of what they're paid, but the beat still goes on! Every year that they remain employed and sucking the life out of the taxpayers they feel more and more entitled..... These are the same people that get bored with their jobs and use Government computers to make personal purchases, while at work. They also solicit sex on Craigslist and Backpage ~ trying to step outside of their marriages. Mind you, they are also the first in line to call out each other to cover up for their own abhorrent behavior.

Whatever you do, don't try to smack the dick out of their mouths, as they tend to churtle something political to distract everyone from what they were doing.

Federal workers don't have the benefits that they once had, but what's left is still better than what most in the private sector have today because nobody in the private sector squawked at all when corporatists took all their benefits away. And since they can only be RIF'd or fired for cause, the Feds also have better job security. But they are paid considerably less than what the private sector would pay them for comparable work.
