The gas station on gallows next to Merrifield Garden Center has a refill pump for propane. Just take your tank.

If he's going to drive al the way to Merrifield then BJ's at fair lakes will be closer. I'm sure there are other closer spots to do it. Propane Taxi looked really reasonable for exchanges last I checked.

Lowes (chantilly) or Home Depot (reston, fairfax) do exchanges. About 18 - 20 bucks.

He might have an unusual size tank, like bigger travel trailer tanks?

Or maybe he wants his grill tank FULL....those Home Depot, etc exchange tanks are filled to maybe 15 pounds, if you're lucky.

I am pretty sure that place is called Suburban Propane.

BJ's in fair lakes is your best bet. They're cheaper, even if you aren't a member

Several places in Sterling. I like the carwash place on Sterling Rd, the gas station there has a big propane tank and good prices.

because of the large amount of undocumented workers in that area, illegally coming into our country and taking jobs away from hard working american ho's who provide a much better service with american pride, and then sending their dirty BJ money out of the community. They don't even buy local mouthwash, but prefer to import it from whatever third world coutnry they came from. Has the school system been informed of this? Maybe Jack Dale and Gatehouse 2 can rally the troops!

I wish I had my tank refilled and not exchanged - I had a brand new one, and when my roommate went to get it filled, she came back with an old tank a month away from expiring. Why they expire isn't clear other than it must be some sort of safety issue. I ended up with someones old rotting tank and lost my brand new one. I had to buy a new one because the store wouldn't refill or accept for trade the old piece of crap they gave me.

Just went to Burke Garden Center @3155 W. Ox Rd and got it refilled for $20 flat. BJ would be <$1 cheaper but you need membership; else it's close to $25. Fairfax Propane (by Harley store) said it's $22 but there's probably tax (went there last year).

The reason you want to refill and not exchange is reported in this news clip. Blue Rhino and AmeriGas are national brands that increased the price of natural gas when the national average rised last year, but never lowered it accordingly when the natural gas price dropped. See details here.
