A person with a gunshot wound approached a Metro worker at around 7:40 p.m. Sunday. She had sustained non-fatal injuries at an entrance to the Anacostia metro station and was taken to the hospital.
Updated information has revealed that the victim was a teenage girl and that she had been shot in the leg, as reported by NBC 4’s Darcy Spencer. The victim said she had been shot by an unidentified male.
The entrance of the station from the bus bay area has been closed off for investigation. Rail or bus services have not been affected.
No description of the suspect has been released. According to a report by NBC 4, it is not known if the suspect has been apprehended.
Spencer also reported that police had detained someone who was around the corner from the station, but it is still unclear whether the person is connected to the shooting. No arrests have been made.
