Any doctors, nurses, PA's on here?
Posted by: Achilles Tendon ()

Maybe even a pre med student. I know it's somewhat of a long shot to find any intelligent life here here but what the fuck, its free right?

Here's what's up: I tore my Achilles tendon about 25 years ago. I mean it was shredded. Surgically repaired and after about a year or so I was back to normal. Since then I have had 2 incidents of pain in my tendon with some swelling. Both times it resolved on its own with rest and ice.

2 days ago I started to feel some slight pain and stiffness in the tendon. Then it progressed to fairly significant swelling and redness. Ice and elevation hasn't done much to relieve this. I can still bend my foot and ankle etc so I know its not a re tear.

Any ideas? Old age coming to haunt me? Tendonitis? I'm gonna give it one more day then see my doctor.

Please.....no comedians.

Night splints can help some people with foot and ankle problems but I don't know if they will in this particular situation.

The disgraced moron known as Bill Frist (R-TN) once tried and thoroughly failed to diagnose people via video, and it's a sure thing that nobody can diagnose anyone from patient-provided information on FFXU. This is why we have health insurance. Go to some walk-in clinic and get it checked out. Follow up with a specialist if that is advised. The best medical care in the world can't help you if you won't use it.

If ice doesn't work, try massage or heat. Ice is to bring down inflammation immediately after injury to the joint or muscle. After awhile, it won't work.

Go to Inova Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, near Fairfax Hospital.

Like someone said above, it could be foot aids. With a valid obamacare card diagnosis and treatment can be expidited.

Massage by a nude Asian chick will help. Make sure she rubs your foot with her boobs.

Doing better today. Swelling gone down and stiffness is subsiding. Only took 4 Advil every 6 hours to do it! I think the tendon was just aggravated in the injury spot.

Thanks for the advice from a few of year. The rest.......blow me!

Two days is not enough to recover from a tendon injury. it's going to be a few more days otherwise you are just going to keep re-injuring.

That is when amputation becomes handy (or handless)

A good place to start would be figuring out what aggravates it and what makes it feel better. Were you doing something outside of your normal routine that could have irritated it?

More than likely this was caused by what you are NOT doing. stretching and strength training for this injured part of your body will be lifelong.

It could just be all in your head. A therapist could help. No ice needed

Increase blood flow. Massage. Stretch. Look online for physical therapy videos for achilles tendon and foot fetish porn.

It is possible that after all those years you are due for a new repair. Most repairs give you a time frame of 10 - 15 years for new hips, knees, open heart procedures, etc. Find a good doc & see what he says. I imagine Achilles would need another repair after some time. Nothing lasts forever. A nurse, but not an ortho expert.

Yeah--one of the replacement knee companies advertises a longer warranty than the rest. Which always struck me as a questionable approach: "Shit, I'm not even sure I want to have this done--you mean I'm'a gonna have to have it done AGAIN in 20 years?!" It may be the truth, but that isn't the way to sell a product!

Don't try to self-medicate. Doctors rely on other doctors for their own health care. You do not know better than they do.
