There are lots of Atheists in AA. To get through the steps you to have to appeal to a 'God of your understanding/higher power' - basically you can make one up. Its cognitive behavioral training not religion. Make reality your 'higher power.'
Anyway go to meetings and feel free to share out loud you dont believe in God and never will. Tell them you think the idea of believing in God is totally nuts. I would bet the majority of the people there would say they totally understand and many will say they agree. Its not church (meetings often are inside churches though). The single solitary reason people go to AA meetings is to keep from drinking. Period.
You will go when you have had enough, I hope that is before you get sick, die, go to jail or hurt someone else.
