Does anyone know the outcome of this lawsuit? Did anyone besides the lawyers receive any money?
Soccer Performance International, a Northern Virginia-based company that provides soccer coaches and trainers to area youth soccer clubs, filed suit against Chantilly Youth Association and four individuals on Oct. 14 for attempting to “destroy” the company’s business and reputation.
The complaint, filed in the Circuit Court in Fairfax County, Va., asks for damages in excess of $1 million, according to SPI’s attorney, Joseph S. Hoover, Jr.
According to the lawsuit, SPI owners Andy and Deanna Vera allege that CYA and two of its leaders, executive director Mark Abbott and Soccer Chairman Carlos Orantes, “mutually undertook to destroy SPI and Andy Vera’s business by, among other things, willfully appropriating the substantial majority of its business for CYA.”
The complaint also alleges that CYA, Abbott and Orantes “secretly and willfully” took SPI information and material that Orantes believed would allow him to operate SPI’s programs within CYA, but without SPI’s involvement.
