It depends on what part of Hybla Valley. Parts of it are like a country club and parts are like the barrio.

OMG, even the "country club" parts of Hybla Valley are scary!! Those nice houses stuck in the midst of the slums are just targets.

Who paid to have that article approved? A property developer or Fairfax County politician?

Like WingNut states, there is some truth to the features highlighted. But under the tab for schools, it only includes the McLean/Vienna/Burke high schools. It completely omits listing Mount Vernon, West Potomac, and Edison High Schools. It also rates the crime level as "low."

Misrepresentation.

the rt 1 factor...

x represents the distance from Rt 1, and y represents "quality of living"

Here is a house in Hybla Valley east of Rt. 1. Notice the beater parked on the lawn on Beacon Hill Road...

I used to drive down Beacon Hill all of the time. White panel trucks and cars parked on the lawn all over the place.

Hybla Valley is safer than 17% of the communities in the country. In other words, 83% of the country's communities are safer than Hybla Valley.

Agree with the boundaries. I grew up in Stratford. Nothing east of Route 1 would be considered Hybla Valley (except the areas you mentioned). When I picture Hybla Valley, I only think of the Route 1 corridor from Beacon Hill to the old drive-in movies (now Multiplex). Further south of there is worse (Woodlawn/Frye Road/etc). Aaaack!

as mentioned, area right by route 1- can be very bad. However, everything off fort hunt road (stratford, hollin hills, mason hill, hollin hall, riverside, waynewood) is very nice. Almost too pleasant. Good elementary schools, in fact great ones. Sandburg is the middle school, it is also great. West Potomac is a little rougher some might say, but its a great school, a lot of great teachers in the english, social studies/history, and foreign language departments. The school has more diversity, than say mclean or one of those schools out there, but theres nothing wrong with diversity. It's actually probably a more realistic view of the world than you will get at some other ffx county high schools. While i was there, I witnessed 6 fights. I was never involved and they were over in about 20 seconds. The divide between the area i explained above and the "route 1 crowd" is clearly still there (lilly white fort hunt highschool and low income minority groveton high school merged to form west potomac in the 80s), but I never felt threatened, and I enjoyed my time there. Heck of a lot better than Bishop Ireton, Bishop Oconnell, and other catholic/private schools in the area. and a lot less money.

Actually, it was 3 students/former students. And the hard feelings are still there among all students/graduates of Fort Hunt.
