I'm afraid it's not such an easy nut to crack. It's so easy to register a name, and a valid e-mail address isn't even required. Even if Cary made it impossible to hotlink to any images not hosted on this site, it would still be possible to post gay porn images.
If people want to post gay smut, they are going to post it. I think banning offenders is the best approach to take for now. Keep reporting violations of Cary's TOS, and eventually these people will get tired of posting gay porn. Especially when they stop getting the reaction they are looking for.

I'm here for you if you need to talk about something... anything at all, Snapple.

Yours in Jesus,
Harry Tuttle

suggestion: require someone be registered for X days and make X posts before a picture is shown as anything but a link. (this would require preventing img tags of course)

Better suggestion: more moderators. People who can be relied on to delete the nazi fisting porn as it crops up, but not delete a legitimate post.

I really don't want to see this forum become a cesspool.

I definitely don't want to lose the ability to use img tags. Think of how many different times you'd have to upload your owl pics, Gravman. The site would end up hosting hundreds of the same pictures...

But I don't think limiting the privileges of unregistered users would be a terrible idea...

Maybe require account activation from a valid e-mail address so there wouldn't be as many bogus accounts?

It's totally super awesome not being able to click anything in the forum because it might have a 1024x786 picture of a man shitting in another man's mouth.

This is a bullshit reason, and you know it. Why aren't you starting with a forum like this one if you're on some sort of moral internet crusade: http://www.stormfront.org/forum/

The idea that you have friends who assist in looking up homosexual shit porn to post it on here as some sort of punishment is as gay as it is laughable.

Is there a way to make video/image posting a privelege of sorts? Like, you are only allowed to after 50 posts or something like that idk.

You've made 22 posts in less than an hour... It wouldn't be hard at all for someone to get enough posts to hotlink pictures.

There is already a similar, "Report", feature... I think a Craigslist-style flagging system would be too easily abused.

I still think making 50 or so posts a requirement in order to post pics would work. I'm sure some people will go to the effort to post their gay pics, but i think it would help to curb it.

I still think the best way is more moderators. They wouldn't even need to have full rights or whatever, just the ability to edit posts. It would stop a lot of the bullshit and pointless flame wars.

Allow me to ask you, fellow FFXU users,

How many more eyes must be scarred by images of vile debauchery while Cary dines and drinks? How many more retinas shall be violated while Cary rests his weary head? How many more pupils will lose their innocence as Cary partakes in leisurely activities?

"None" should be your answer, fellow users. The Sinister Mr. Collinsworth hereby endorses the creation of a legion of moderators by the honorable Cary. This band of men shall peruse the threads of this legendary forum with utmost vigilance, removing any offending images.

While this decree primarily targets vile homosexual pornography, The Sinister Mr. Collinsworth also reprimands those who post LOL cats, as they are not humorous. O RLY owls, however, are currently seen in a positive light.

Good day, gentlemen.

I think the problem with multiple moderators is whether or not they would go against what Cary intends for this site. There would be people who claim that they're unfairly being censored, legitimate posts are being removed, blah blah blah. One person's genuine grievance is another person's troll post. If controversial but legitimate posts were being removed, even I would be against more moderators in that case.

I think that everyone can agree that "outing" other users, posting the personal info of other users, inflammatory personal attacks, and gay nazi fisting porn are things this forum can do without, though. My first thought would be to have a system in place where Cary can see any changes to posts that these moderators make, so he can prevent moderator abuse as well. But, I'm not familiar with the technical capabilities of Phorum, so I don't know how feasable that is.

from what i can gather, phorum is pretty flexible. it doesnt look like a cookie-cutter website, Cary seems to have put a lot of time and effort into personalizing it. I do think it would be good to have 1 or 2 moderators, but thats really all up to Cary.

Agreed, above is the problem with moderated forums. Terms of Service, what goes, what doesn't, and how to you find a group of like-minded and unbiased mods?

It takes effort and communication between mods to make it work. Of course, the alternative is anarchy.

and some prefer the alternative...

I really hate to be "That Guy"... But plenty of real, live, people get their name and address posted on this site all the time. Think of the ticket search... or that animal abusing bitch that left her dogs in the car... or that religious, con-artist, handyman...

What's the real difference between "outing" those people and outing a registered user?
I'm not saying that the registered posters deserved to get outed, and I'm definitely not saying those posters shouldn't be upset by it, but there is (sort of) a double standard...

I understand that the Arrest Search doesn't tell lies about you, so there is a difference there, but does anyone believe any of the shit posted about the real-life identities on this forum anyway?

Whatever policy is decided on, I just hope that it is fair for EVERYONE...

I'm fully prepared to receive a ration of shit for this post...

I write a post criticizing the posting of vile homosexual pornography and I am deemed a faggot? What sort of Twighligh Zone-esque forum is this that a man who opposes gayness is a faggot? If that is your definition of faggotry then yes, I AM a faggot and I can only hope that you are one as well. We alone stand against the likes of non-faggots such as Adam Lambert, Elton John, Clay Aiken, Bert and Earnie. Do not let the fudgepackers divide us, 496. I am not your enemy, nor are you mine. As entertaining as his psychotic drivel is, I'd have to say Inkahootz deserves a ban, especially with his dumbass signature "line" now.

Holy shit, he's retarded.

Cary,

Do you think you could switch the forum back to where it kept 50 posts per thread-page? I think originally it was 25 per page (right now it's 100). With all the long sigs, excessive quoting, picture-flooding, etc., it makes it easier to navigate on mobile devices if the pages aren't 100 posts long.

Thanks.

+1 There's a legitimate reason why Cary banned my last name from being used, and yet, inkahootz finds creative ways to go around the filter. Plus, it's really cute that he thinks I'm the AOL troll.

please ban poster "wahh!!!" because all they do is quote another and attach this image: http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/file.php?2,file=16388

they add nothing to the conversation and it's just annoying.

If Cary banned everyone fitting this description, there'd be like, eight of us left.
