I have a 2013 VW CC fwd, it is the world's worst car in the snow. Wants to go in a ditch every 2 feet last night. Horrible brakes too. Very reliable, just shitty snow performance and brakes. It's just loves losing control and going off the road. Thank god the lease is ending and the car is being returned.

They didnt treat the roads. People here cannot drive and there are a lot of us. Im guessing they are hording all their rock salt for the weekend hence the roads are actually more slippery with one inch than if there were several inches.

If they had, that inch of snow last evening would not have turned into a sheet of ice and caused so many problems. Whatever got treated happened only AFTER the damage was done.

I did fine last night in my old Mercury grand marquis. RWD, solid rear axle, open differential and generally sloppy handling overall. You just have to know your vehicle and how it will respond to your inputs. Hardest part was avoiding other people who drove like they had never seen a flake of snow before!

You should get a General Motors FWD
My 2000 Cavalier did good considering the conditions. With good tires, and anti-lock brakes did well.

A lot of noise from me last night..about "People of a Political Party"...who voted for a President and can't drive! Till I was in bumper to bumper traffic and despite my 45 years experience driving round here I could feel the tires skiddin just in stop and go traffic. It was treacherous and slick as it became packed down and icy at once. Lots of Egg on my face and remorse as a result of my lousy comments as a result..On a country road with few cars, It would have been just a careful ride. But that's not NOVA.

Wife has 2012 VW with the Hankook all season tires. She got stuck every snow and I thought it was her until I tried it in light snow. Impossible, Hankooks just pack up. Switched to Continental DWS, problem solved.

Compared to all the other German cars I've owned and do own, VW brakes are by far the worst because they only come in two binary modes: no braking Or Skid with ABS. This is true in all weather conditions. Yes, my tires are properly inflated and yes I've driven other CC and Passats and all their brakes suck.
BMW, Mercedes, Mini, Audi and Porsche all have much better brakes than VW. I've never driven a Smart or German Rolls/Bentley, but I imagine since they are real German cars, they are much better than VW too.
When the VW CC is returned next month, I will own a Mini Cooper S and a Porsche 911. Both have super excellent brakes compared to VW.
