Does anyone know which make and model of breath tester the police use?

Not sure of the exact models, but they use a couple of different models.

We did a test with one model at a party. They are terribly inaccurate as far as the level. The problem is that you have wait 1/2 hour after drinking to get a reasonably accurate level. Testing somebody just leaving a bar who had a single beer or margarita would probably register over .08

The only fact you can get from a portable model would be that the person had been drinking.
