why are there random arrests from the late 80's and early 90's? There's like 1-10 arrests for each year. oldest one i found is the link from 1987

I have a possible explanation but I have no proof...

Cary harvested the data directly from the ffx co police website. I bet at some point they needed some test data and picked some random cases to demonstrate something-or-other, the data stayed (since it is valid) and was harvested.

Maybe because those persons were finally caught and tried after the database was pubished online?

I mean, it is possible that a guy with a petty larceny charge from 1987 managed to not get pulled over or otherwise involved with the cops for a decade or two, and then when he finally went to court, it was entered into the conviction database.

Interesting theory, but the database is not a conviction DB (we're talking about the one on THIS site, right?)

It's just arrests

Are you sure, though?

I thought the arrests only appeared on the database after the court date, and dismissed cases never showed up.

I could be wrong.

nope... my own name has several dismissed cases associated with it in that search. I'm 100% sure it's arrest.. it's even called the arrest and ticket database.

I guess your theory is more likely the correct answer.

It is arrests only. First, the County web site says that's what they are. Second, each update has arrests only a week or so old.
