The pre-season really doesn't mean anything, but the Redskins offense doesn't look so great tonight. Brunell looks pretty much like he did for most of last year, even with all of the new receivers. I do like the way they are using Sellers now, as both a running back and a receiver. And Brandon Lloyd make a kick-ass catch. But both Brunell and Collins threw stupid interceptions.

On the other hand, the Ravens are looking surprisingly good this season...

The Redskins defense looked very good. Despite getting caught on a couple trick plays and short-field situations, the defense looked extremely sharp.

Collins made the same mistake twice, he threw it right into the hands of a linemen, only the 2nd time he got a safty because of it. Luckly he is 3rd string

Hope Portis is good, or will be in a world of hurt. They shouldn't play him anymore during the preseason.

There is a reason Collins has been in the league nearly as long as Brunell yet has only six or seven games under his belt. Terrible. The guy should be on the practice squad.

Where's that pansy "Better Red than Deadskin"??

Brunell sucks. Even when he tries to play it safe and throw the ball away, he throws an interception.

If he was going to throw an interception, at least go for a TD. So don't talk to me about Brunell is smart because he plays it safe, and doesn't throw interceptions. He threw one last night, that was epitome Brunell.

With Lloyd, Moss, Cooley, Randle El, and Espy to throw to, Brunell should never have to throw the ball away. But he will. Every drive.

I'd give the Skins a bit more credit than 6-10, and I also expect the Eagles to fare better than the Vagiants. Many are assuming that Philadelphia will be as banged up and dysfunctional as they were last year, and that's not the case.

I'm just glad the NFC Beast is back. Should be a very good year for football.

No way the Redskins go 6-10.However, I think Gibbs needs to drop Brunell and put Jason Campbell in there. No point in having speed on the field when you don't have a QB who can get it down field.

Someone rang?

I agree that the Redskins should play Jason Campbell instead of Brunell. Brunell doesn't have Campbell's arm. Campbell looked poised and comfortable in the pocket and really got it out there. No point in limping along with Brunell, who has to be 100% healthy to be fully effective, especially if your starting RB is going to be Ladell Betts.

Look at it this way. Which teams are dominant these days? Patriots, Steelers, Carolina..

With the exception of the Seahawks, most of the top teams have QBs who are still in their 20s. With the West Coast offense being so dominant, it has become harder for teams to rely on veteran QBs who can sit back and manage a running game accentuated with screen passes and the occasional deep ball. You need a QB who offers a constant deep threat in order to open up the running game.

I like Brunell and have been a big fan of his. But if last year's post season showed us anything it is that Brunell can only take the team so far, especially if Clinton Portis is too injured to play (remember, Portis could hardly run by the playoffs because he was so beat up).

At some point in time a team needs to start its quarterback of the future. The Bengals bit the bullet and did it. The Giants did it. San Diego is doing it. I think the Redskins should at least try Campbell with the first team during one of these pre-season games to see if he can be as poised and effective as he appeared in the last pre-season game.

Well, against the Jets the Redskins first unit defense kicked ass. However, what is the deal with the tackling on the Punt Unit? Two big runs, one for a touchdown?? Special Teams has some serious issues.

For the most part, Campbell looked good, except for that dumb interception early on. The running game seemed to work pretty well with Betts and Cartwright, though it could have as much to do with the Jets run defense as anything special coming out of Betts and Cartwright.

Finally, what is the deal with the play-by-play by Riggins and that other schmuck? Riggins color commentary was inane at best and just plain clueless at worst. The guy says, "The Redskins have been moving the ball pretty well, I'm surprise they don't have a touchdown yet," in the first quarter. The problem is Riggins apparently forgot that the Redskins hadn't made one third down conversion at that point, going three-and-out on every series. Then, the other dude said Campbell had misfired on a throw when David Patten dropped the damn thing.

Speaking of Patten, the guy continues to be unimpressive, especially with guys like Randel El and Lloyd making huge catches. I say keep Thrash as your fourth guy and get rid of Patten.

Patten certainly has had better numbers than Thrash, especially when Patten was in New England, but since he has been with the Redskins he looks more like Rod Gardner than Santana Moss. Thrash has great hands. While he doesn't have Patten's speed, he is able to get out in the open in the middle of the field. If you have teams double-teaming guys like Randel El, Lloyd and Moss, that creates opportunities for a guy like Thrash at 10 or 15 yards out. I would rather have Thrash reliably catching a ball at 12 yards every time than a guy like Patten who catches it one out of every two or three throws.

STFU Better REd than Deadskins.

You're the one always on BRUNELL's balls.

I've been saying Brunell throws the ball out of balls every other play even when receivers are open. His windup/release takes centuries, and he always short arms his deep ball.

Now you're changing your mind. STFU. Once a dumass, always a dumass.

I believe I have said before that Brunell has issues when he can't step into a throw. He has had problems with his knees off and on in recent seasons, so he may be having problems now.

I am a big Brunell fan, but if Jason Campbell is good to go, I think he should be played. I am entitled to change my take on things as the situation merits. If Brunell is not playing up to par, Campbell should be given a chance, especially now that there are so many receiver options available.

My arguments with people on this board about Brunell is that the guy had a respectable completion percentage last year, given his limited options at receiver. I would rather have a guy like Brunell who will through a ball out of bounds when he can't find a hot receiver than guys like Patrick Ramsey, who instinctively takes the sack, or Todd Collins who throws it into the pile in front of him and prays the other team doesn't catch it.

You can change your views, by all means, just man up and admit it that before you were indeed a wrong dumas$.

I'd rather have anthony wright or timmy chang or one of 8000 other QB's rather than Todd Collins and Ramsey. Comparing Brunell as a better option than Ramsey and Collins is not saying much for Brunell.

Like I said, we need to get a QB that puts the ball in the air and gives his star receivers a chance to make a TD, instead of a QB with a giant rod up his arse, who's so afraid of throwing a pick that he launches it into the stands every other passing play.

You have no chance to hit a homerun if you don't swing the bat.

he will never get off the bench hes a coach monkey
all he is doing is running al saunders offense in training camp and then he will disappear into the masses

pretty sure if we need a guy to play QB if brunell gets hurt, campbell wil be the man

I wasn't wrong. Last year Brunell was a better QB to go with than Patrick Ramsey. Ramsey is already failing to start with the Jets and the way he played the other night, I would be surprised if he isn't cut from that team.

As for Anthony Wright, did you bother watching any of the Ravens games last year? In his entire professional career, Wright has had only one season where he had more TDs than Interceptions - and that was 1 more TD than Interceptions.

Brunell has had only one year in his entire career when he has thrown more Interceptions than TDs, and that was when he was starting out in Jacksonville. Last year Brunell threw 23 TDs, the same number as Bledsoe, yet had seven fewer Interceptions than Bledsoe. Brunell threw more TDs than Jake Plummer and only one fewer than Matt Hasselbeck, Eli Manning and Jake Delhomme. He also threw about 7 fewer Interceptions than each of those guys.

Like I said, I think Gibbs ought to give Jason Campbell a try, because at some point Gibbs is going to have to commit to his quarterback-of-the-future. That isn't some admission that I was wrong about Brunell. It is an acknowledgement that Brunell is getting older and can only play so much longer.

Don't bother going to the game, then. It is more enjoyable watching the games at a bar or in your own home anyway.

Yeah the prices are around $7.00 for a beer. Went to the MCI center or whatever name it is this week and a warm 12 oz beer was 7 bucks. The beer, or I hope it was beer, sucked but what the hell else can you do?
These jokers make the gas companies look like rookies are far as fucking the consumer. Nothing worse than warm beer, dont know how the english do it drinking beer at room temp.

signed TJ Duckett today
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/F/FBN_REDSKINS_DUCKETT?SITE=WKDL&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

The short answer is no, we needed a big back to take some wear and tear off of Portis during the season and to punch it in at the goalline. Gibbs has used backs like that before in combination with a featured runner.
im sure betts and rock will be fine
Fact: shoulder injuries hurt and linger.
Fact: Betts gets nicked every year.
Fact: TJ Duckett can play, he has speed and size.
Fact: Pittsburg and N England were both interested in TJ Duckett.

Now that is the best post of the day right there. Everyone is up in arms about this trade either good or bad but that is just plain good humor. But seriously I heard he was brought in to appease Danny Smith. I heard there isn't a wedge TJ Duckett can't bust.
